some questions on scca auto x'ing
i definetely wanna try auto x ing sometime in the near future but im a total n00b. there are several events comin up i see in the website but it says they're championships rounds. does that mean only people advancing to the next round can participate
or can any noob try? it also doesn't show any times or anything about when to show up and race. also, what class are u if u have just turboback and springs? do they care if u are 2 cats less than stock?

Any 'nOOb' can run in any event as long as they present thier current SCCA membership card along with the $30 entry fee.
'Championship' simply means that points earned at each event are added up during the season for potential trophies at the end of the 16ish event season.
There are no specific times listed on the schedule for this Sunday in Oakland aside from the course walk (7:30-8:30 )and drivers meeting (8:30) for the morning group because there's no way of knowing just how many participants are going to show up. The more people in a run group, the longer it takes. If your run group is in the morning you should show up between 7:30 and 8:00. If you're in an afternoon group it would be a good idea to show up around 11:00. Give yourself plenty of time to register and get your car tech'ed.
I'm guessing you're going to run a WRX with "just a turboback and springs and 2 cats less than stock". Your mods prolly put you in Street Mod (run group 5 this Sunday) or something, but I could easily be wrong. Ask when you register and they should be able to advise you. It seems like it would be a good idea to show up for the morning group since you're not sure what class you'll be in. At the very least, you'll have plenty of time to walk the course, shoot the sheet with other people, and maybe even get a ride along before your turn comes.
...and don't forget to have fun!

Also, you cannot buy the SCCA Membership at the event. You need to take care of it beforehand. To do that, call up the San Francisco Region SCCA Office up in Willows CA at (530) 934-4455. You will have to apply over the phone, then have them send you (via either fax or e-mail) proof of membership so you can run on Sunday. Bring the printed out fax or e-mail with you, it'll work until you get the membership card from SCCA (which takes a few weeks).

The card that came from Subaru is a VOUCHER for a free 1 year SCCA membership.....it is NOT the membership card itself!
Contact the SCCA office and tell them you have that card, they should be able to handle it from there

Sounds like you should run in either STX or ESP. The STX should be more fun for you, more subies are in that group too. Oh, don't forget to run as a Novice too. So you will be STX-N or ESP-N.
