Increasing the concentration does nothing but raise the octane rating of the fuel, and, if you've kept up with your reading, you already know that raising the octane, in and of itself, is of no benefit to almost all karting engines.
But it is a HUGE benefit to our little blown beasties.

Btw...how much Toluene to add to a tank of 91 to bring it to 93-ish???

That's actually a really good idea Jason...except for the fact that every darn station would have to get new pumps. And would you trust your $25k+ car to a little mixer in the pump that is calibrated god-knows-when by some lame state employee!??

A guy can dream. to 91.

Luckily I live pretty close to Infineon so I'll be able to pump higher octane and since my car is garage bound except on weekends, it won't be such a bad option. Of course this only becomes a problem after I do my conversion.

u'd need a 13:1 mix of 91 octane to toluene

...hmm if I recall the anti knock capabilities of Toulene go well beyond its indicated octane ratings?

I remember something about how Honda managed to get 1000+ hp out of a 1.5 liter turbo engine using a ridiculously low octane for F1.

You can get that stuff from Sherman williams? How much a gallon?

And what is Toulene used for in real life? lol

water injection ownz! because water is cheap!

you can effectively have 100 octane out of a 91 pump octane w/ water injection... really? read about it!

its not as popular here... some people knock it... well because they haven't really tried it.

wanna ride in a water injected car running pump gas?... me to

I got this 5 gallon drum from SW for around $40.

You can use 14.5 gallons of 91 octane and 1.5 gallons of toluene(114 octane) to get 93 octane. Try it out. It really does work.

Toluene and Xylene are gas. As are Benzene, ethanol, MTBE... hydrocarbons... AKA "the crap you pump into your tank". Some of these are of a higher natural octane than others. Its actually more work to "crack" the lower octanes out. But cracking leads to more product than you started with (in terms of pumpable volume) and is more abundant naturally.... therefor higher octane is harder to come by and thanx to western philosophy, more expensive

I'm not sure the reason why WI isn't that hot here. I'm sure it would allow all of us to run 17-18 psi on our stock turbos in any weather condition all day though.

Although I know a lot of people with turbo JDM motors consider this, since JDM motors use higher octane gas than we can get and WI just brings it up to standard spec.
