EXACTLY. ATP it is.

I vote for ATP. Give me the highest # possible. That is why we are using the dyno, to pump out #'s.

If we are doing a dyno day ... (hopefully lots of cars), then I'd say Vishnu. Their dyno is easier/faster to get on and rolling. Now if we want big numbers (and someone is bringing stripers), then ATP.

nah ... add my vote to Vishnu.

usually it's $60 with a/f reading at ATP...

as for comparing Vishnu's dyno and ATP, no one really knows which one is correct, maybe ATP reads too high, maybe vishnu reads too low...

As for getting on and off the dyno, they're both equally easy as far as I can tell..but Su and the gang at ATP are cool and work fast..=)

plus they're closer to most people...

for those who people who've been on a dynojet and a dyno-dynamics ... they'll be able to speak more educatedly about ease of use. In general, it sounds simple ... just get on the tumblers. But on the dynojet, you've got to balance on top of two sets (eventhough they are set apart the right distance), its still pretty tough. First time took about 10 minutes (not including strap-down) ... dyno-dynamics, you get two rollers for each tire and all you have to do is fall into between them ... that isn't rocket science.

Can someone correct me? Even on a dynojet, Automatics still dyno in 2nd gear, anyone? Does it have to do with the ability to lock it into gear?

Autos have to be dyno'ed in second gear. Shiv did the same with my car. He tried it in third and the car downshift into second. You can't get accurate numbers on a dyno like that. So yes it has to do with being able to lock into a gear. But the auto's second gear is about equal to the manuals third anyway. Speed wise at least. The only way I could think to do a third gear pull is to take off very slow and let the gear build. But the numbers will be weird I think.

Hi bluwrxwgn,
I think you're right ... since most dynos are accelerometer (sp?) based, if you accelerate slowly, it may not register horsepower correctly. In any event, HP is calculated from Torque ... so must dyno read torque and then convert it to HP. Someone told me that the intersection point of the formula is 5800 rpm. So you may notice that the torque curve and HP curve intersect there (if you use the same scales).

Hey Guys,
Good news ... I just talked Shiv and he says he's game. So here's the deal:

$50 per car (he wants 10 cars ... PM me if you want in)

- unlimited runs until the curves start to stabilize (you need to run more than 2 times to get the ECU learning up to spec - even from a restart, not just a reset) - check out this old post, 3rd dyno plot https://www.i-club.com/forums/showth...?threadid=2553

- he'll hook up deltadash, so you can see exactly what's going (and you can make tuning notes for yourself - for those who are inclined)

I will update date everyone on which Saturday we'll be running on and if there is interest in getting a deal on his dyno tuning prices.

Steve
