good luck with the lemon law....i went through that back in 98', they (car company) made me crazy. i was out of a ride for (in a 4 month period) 1-1.5 months at a time. remember just because you take it in for repairs or service does'nt mean that it falls under the lemon law. you have to pretty much be out of commission for more than 30 consecutive days at a time and in for the same problem that takes more than 30 days to fix or like related problems. not to bust your bubble but you could be making lemonaide. my friend g/f had a vw with gas tank problems...went into the dealer about 10x's and nothing happened with her claim. good luck though.

Do you need an SUV? A new legacy wagon might suit her just fine. My boss just got a new GT and took for a ride in it, it's very stylish The emissions on the 2.5i (non-turbo model) rival that of the Toyota Prius and Honda's Hybrid, rather than your gas guzzling space-wasters.

Well, let's see.. Porsche Cayenne base and VW Toe-rag are the same vehicle... and from what I hear, they are a little anemic in power. Build quality is okay, but the owners I've talked to have had second thoughts about it. One Cayenne owner said he wished he had spent the extra for the S, because the regular Cayenne just doesn't have any OOMPH.

Why not look at the Highlander hybrid? Or the Honda Pilot? There are a lot of options out there.

FWIW, my parents are on their second Forerunner, and they've had no problems with it. The new models are VERY roomy (my parents traded their 2000 for a 2003 and love it), and very useful for those Home Depot or Lowe's runs .

3) your going to do it any way when the 2nd baby is on the way
4) it's your wife's car

The Murano is very small inside. Probably no bigger than the WRX Wagon we came from. I like the looks of the Infiniti FX version, but the Murano is a no-go because of the CVT tranny that is the only option.
So you have a principle that protects you from owning a well proven, reliable vehicle? Another interesting point to ponder is the idea of going from one first-model run of a newly released vehicle to thoughts of one of the only cars that could possibly be less proven than the one you are having problems with.

FYI the Murano is a FWD Altima-based crossover vehicle while the Infiniti FX is based on the RWD FM (G35, Z, etc) platform, and is larger in every dimension. The FX is also awesome while the Murano is.. Not.

You didn't call a lawyer did you? Didn't think so. You and your GF would've been easy wins, without a lawsuit.

To answer all the haters...

Yes we need a big BIG car, the legacy/outback is NOT. My mom has the OutbackXT and it's no bigger in the backseat than the WRX wagon (maybe an inch or two... ) The xterra is odd, my father inlaw has one. Handles horribly (worse than the armada believe it or not), is too top heavy/narrow, and unless you get the supercharged version, completely gutless.

The principle of my dislike for toyota's stems from the fact that they all are blander, higher priced Hondas. It's not based on reliability.

The FX is too much money. We'll probably end up with a stupid Odyssey or something, pending their inability to repair this satisfactorily. Then I can join www.odyworld.com lol
