My friend just did this with his Maxima. Came home from a nice long trip, zips into the garage and puts both bikes thru the back window. He said it sounded like a gunshot going off and suddenly there were bikes...
Good luck with that.

So, unfortunately this is covered under my collision deductible and not my comp coverage, which means I'm responsible for $1000. Ugh. I'm going to Superior Auto for the work (thanks for the Kreative Kustoms recommendation, but I can't have the car repaired in San Jose while I live in San Francisco).
That sucks!
Sorry to hear about this. I know its too late in this instance, but something people might consider doing in the future is whenever you put bikes on your rack, immediately place your garage door opener in the trunk of your car. If you have a Homelink system (or any gdo that cannot be easily removed), unplug your gdo from inside the garage. Either way, when you return home and instinctively go to open the garage door, you won't be able to. Hopefully that will trigger your brain to remember what's on the roof.
Hope that helps.

My bike, fortunately, appears only to have a flat rear tire.

it happened to me once too...luckily very very minmal damage...nobody knows untill now.
...
Its alright man, we all make mistakes. I messed up my car too. NOt as bad, of course. I thought I could squeeze out my driveway with my garbage can on the left and my dads car on the right. It was a very tight space. I went out slow enough till the garbage can was right up against my driver side mirror. Since i was a lazy bum, I decided to roll down the window and push it off. Next thing you know the can rocks back slammin right on my door. Left two huge dings and chipped the paint! DOH!
