So Sad...I Hurt My Own Scooby
So, I was on my way back from biking this morning with my bike on my roof rack. Totally forgot it was there, and tried to pulled into my garage with the bike still on the car. I think the bike it fine, but the car took the brunt of the damage:
The towers did some damage to the flashing and the roof, and as the bike moved back and down, it flexed the wing to point of breaking. UGH!

I'm guessing this is going to be wicked expensive to fix given the damage to the C-pillar/roof.

Damn, that's got to hurt
sorry to hear. Hopefully you will not be charged too much by your insurnace company after you pay the deductible, and hopefully won't raise your rates. Such a simple little mistake, yet it costs so much. Keep your head up homie.

The wing will be at least $600 to replace, plus paint, and R&R. Add a few thousand for the repair to the roof and flashing, plus paiting the roof, and we are looking at a good 2000+ is my guess.

I have to second the statement - self-ownage is really the worst. I'm surprised that your insurance company won't raise your rates though. Usually, anytime they have to make a payout, that means you are, in some way, more of a risk for them to insure. BTW, talk to George @ Creative Kustoms in San Jose. He does top-notch work.

For what it's worth... you are NOT the only bonehead. Get this.
My friend did the same thing with his M-3 that was ONE day old!!!
Now it get's better... he has some magnesium (sp?) framed crazy *** mountain bke worth $5K. Decides to enter a car park full tilt (showing off for the lady) as he knows it goes right into endless circles up the floors. Writes off one 5K bike and 5K damage to the car!... and his date was NOT impressed.
The bike now has a square surround of neon and is hung on his living room wall ~ truly and 'artisitic' wad of a bike!
He's still single. Any wonder?
OK... When I had my Range Rover I blew off my Thule Box going under a motel overhang. Blew the box into a hundred pieces, it was empty :-)
And I did NO damage to the car. The box just left the car at a high rate of speed. Both my kids were impressed (3yrs and 8yrs)! They even laughed the little bast****!
