so i'm sitting here in the waiting room of CAPITOL SUBARU...
well...
so far so good.
justin very helpful at the service desk.
free (but unsecured) wifi... (please folks... it takes 2 seconds to implement some sort of encryption...)
tv with direct tv....:RockOn - not mine:
plus did you know this place offers LIFETIME warranty on their drivetrain? on ANY vehicle you buy from them, new or used????? kinda like jeep/chrysler is now advertizing all over TV...
good luck to them.
overall, i would rate this experience a 7 out of 10. strippers and a free open bar would bump them to 10...

when its your house, u'd wanna encrypt it so that people don't use your bandwidth. but if its a public place i'd think its easier to just leave it alone. but the problem with that... is that if someone does something illegal with your bandwidth then your liable.... i think.... but i'm sure the network admin at capital subaru thought about that and has something to cover their ***.

for me, securing a WAP is different than allowing free access to it.
securing means encrypting the data between the machine and WAP.
granted, WEP is easily crackable and WPA-PSK just takes time and appropriate s/w, but that's like leaving your car wide open with the windows rolled down and doors left open vs closing everything and arming the alarm.
again, modern o/s allow such easy access to WAPs these days, that it windows xp even prompts you to type in the key.
so even if the owners put up a sign saying what the key is, it takes less than 5 seconds to type in twice.
i just want my traffic encrypted... and that's what even the basic WEP does.
i asked justin, the service dude and he wasnt too sure about the terms.
i joked about people bringing in a dead suby on a flatbed with all sorts of race stickers like it just came from a drag race event with broken axles...
one major point is that they down "sell" the warranty itself.
they "honor" the lifetime warranty, which sounds to me, like a 3rd party sells it and they just participate in the program.
to me, even at those terms, is a major bonus selling point than say another suby dealer who doesnt even offer it.
only concern is if you move and the only suby dealer by you isnt part of this program.
at least all the signs around there say it's part of purchase price so it's not an additional cost.
