So I went to test drive an 03 wagon today and...
Everytime I turned the heater on, I could smell something burning and smoke would come out the hood scoop.
It's an 03 WRB WRX wagon at CK Motor's. It has 3600 miles on it, and it smokes. god damn that was depressing. The salesman let me go on an un-supervised test drive and I was gone for like a half an hour. Of course that's becasue I had to pull over every 10 minutes to look for smoke. It was coming from just behind the turbo. Upon return, I checked the oil and it's abut a quart too full, and the transmission's fluid level was way low. Like dangerous low. Also both front fenders had a small ding in them. Asking price... $19,995.
I told him I would pass, but a word of warning - Steer clear of this car. It has a clean Carfax history, but it's from out of state.

my tranny dipstick always read low when the cars warm, to really tell if the tranny has oil in there or not you have to look at it in the morning. and better luck next time.
Just sounds like that dealership doesn't know how to prep cars for sale. I wouldn't buy any cars from them.
As far as tranny fluids go, Subaru's always came right at the low level on the dipstick.

I was expecting it to be low, but not this low. Try not on the dipstick at all. That's way to low for my taste.
Then, there's the smoke issue. Oh well.
