I was just never aware of this...my car is hardly ever driven. Ive put like 8k since my tune. Its frustrating that because of Subaru's bad pick up tube's ..it is going to cost me a new motor..i check my oil on every time i fill up my gas. I just changed my oil two weeks ago....there is just no way for me to have found out before...It seems common enough that Killer B an KMurphy made GOOD pick up tubes..im actually thinking of just parting out my parts and getting rid of the car..get something else that wont give me **** like this has...Its just bad rep for subaru to deny that its their fault..

Sounds like you probably damaged some bearings at this point and you're not able to maintain oil pressure at idle because the bearing clearance is much looser. Generally by the time the oil pressure light comes on, the damage was already done. Sorry to say but it sounds like its time for a rebuild.

That's what my folks are telling me... they basically said.... sell my car for what I can get out of it. Take the $7k I'd spend on a new built motor and buy something for that total... only problem is that I LOVE my car and there's only one car out there I'd trade it for and they're WAAAAY more than $11-12k. LOL.

Car Info: MY04 STi some call it a race car
Can only speak for ourselves, as we have never seen a broken one as of yet at our shop. Pretty sure its not a pandemic as lots like to believe or make it out to be. Even if you add up the individuals on other forums; its still a small amount of folks (most likely due to a bad production run and/or keep in mind that weld can become damaged at time of a rebuild, install error, damage to oil pan, etc...)
Up until a year or so ago, we ran OEM in our race car and only reason we changed it was for a higher capacity oil pan (which forces you to change the pick up as its a longer/deeper pan).
We keep aftermarket ones in stock "in case" someone wants one: Moroso Upgraded Oil Pickup (02+ WRX/STi) Subaru 24965 | Buy Online from LIC Motorsports
