1 6spd swap= one price, one time.
Doing another 5 spd, it will eventually get borked and then you will have to replace your tranny twice= more cost and more downtime.

The question is this, do you plan on running your car down the drag strip regularly??? Cos AWD rally cars don't like being dragged.
If it's just spirited driving your doing, an RA gearset combined with a good basic shifting technique will suit you fine.

true
THis is very true. It all really depends on the type of driving you will be doing. Drag= 6spd or ppgs Reading on Nasioc Ra gears are reliable up to 350 whp.....But its torque that will destroy a 5spd and drving patterns. I upgraded to Ra gears and its suits me. But im still on a vf series turbo. 18g plus meth might be pushing it? Who knoes IMO, bugeyes are the best looking year but god 5spd sucks ***** and spending 6grand on 6spd or ppgs is kind of ridiculous to be spending on a wrx. YOu probably would want to slap yourself for not buying an Sti in the first place.
I agree with stylin, it comes down to how you want to drive. If you treat the RA gearset with respect, it will be great. A buddy of mine blew 2nd gear a few years ago with his stock turbo bugeye (stage 2 protuned). He replaced it with the RA gearset, exedy clutch and lightweight flywheel, his car hauled and the gear ratios felt much better....the 18g and RA ratios would be killer.
Just dont bang gears

thanks for all the input guys...i actually am going with speed element. I got quoted $2500 for a sti v7 RA gear set installed...they said they should receive the transmission in 3 weeks so hopefully my car can be up and running in a little over a month...Also I was thinking about going with IA but decided not to even though its a cheaper way I would not be able to go to a local shop to have them diagnose if something does go wrong after the install

yea...$6k for a transmission really is very pricey...considering that I really do not know how long I will keep this car...maybe another 2 years? but yea I do bring it out to drag once in a while not all the time I launch only if I have to...as for the RA gearset I read it is supposed to hold up to 350whp on nasioc...and the quote I got from speed element is for a new gear set from japan...hopefully 2500 will be it I asked Rob and he said that should include all the costs for the swap...o and YES I am slaping myself for not getting an STI to begin with =/
