since they are fairly young, i am sure sentencing will not be a brutle as 3 or 4 time offenders. i think it highly depends on your judge

Say bye bye to college, government jobs, any worthwhile job in industry.

Hope it was worth it.

I think probation would be what they'll get. Jails are overcrowded as is. It also depends on what county they got caught in. Alameda County is no joke, if they got caught there, they will get 4 yrs probation mandatory.

Santa Cruz? Heh, probation like I said. Their lawyer will most likely plead them off to a not guilty, then fight the case for about a year or so, then come to an agreement with the DA. The longer it drags on the better. First time offense, usually won't land you in prison for something like that.

yeah I agree if they are first time offenders they shouldn't have too much to worry about

depending on what they did they could get the felonies put down to mistamener.
If this was for high school ****, then its not that bad. College on the other hand it can be worse.
Computer crimes regarding privacy are not handled nicely. =(

Most likely these kids were at a teachers computer that just so happened to be grading stuff right?
Every time I hear of someone trying to "hack their school grades" its always someone that doesn't have a clue about what they are doing. They watched hackers the night before and decide they are l33t.

as for sentance, I am guessing at the most 60-90 days in county jail, 2 years probation, and some community service time.

I bet $20 on that! hahahaha

I will bet on 30 days in jail, 4 years probation, and 3000 hours of community service. They better start learning how to pick up trash along hwy 80. For being stu pid i hope they get a lifetime of misery. Were they planning on breaking into pentagon computers to play global thermonuclear war next?
