Which car? STi? WRX? RS? L? OBS? In any case, you have AWD (probably). If this is your first AWD car, you're gonna have an easier time if there are chain checks. They'll probably wave you on through. Just be carefull around other cars in traffic because AWD has nothing to do with braking. And if you come across an empty snow-covered parking lot....

if you come across an empty snow covered parking lot....you better hope there's no parking blocks under that snow......usually isn't...they need to run the scraper through those things.....but I never hit ones I don't know for sure.
ya last sunday i went to tahoe and found out the braking thing.. a truck went into my lane 50 feet in front of me and i still couldnt brake in time, forcing me to float around in the shoulder hehe.. handles great though even with street tires =o)
The scooby handles much better in the snow than suv's or jeeps. I've driven a jeep in the snow and found it kind of scary. I sometimes borrow my dads suv when taking larger groups of people up to the snow, but I'd much rather drive my scooby. Of course the set of Dunlop Wintersport M2's help a lot

I drove up to Sugar Bowl yesterday, it was supreme!
Anyway, you have to make a right turn off old 40 to get to Judah lodge and the road is always packed snow/ice after a storm - it gets very slick. I slowed way down to make the right, and this Yukon or Tahoe is right on my bumper. I make the turn with the expected oversteer, rolling gently on throttle to maintain my direction and get the car straightened out. I looked in the mirror after the car straighted out and the SUV was sideways careening towards a huge snow bank! He just missed the bank of snow and in about 3 minutes was on my *** again.

those SUVs think they own the road in both city and mountain.
from experience, the moment you don't respect the slippery conditions, you end up on the side of the road.
