I passed with a red I/C hoses and uppipe - no issues at all. I guess they don't look that close if the car passes the test and exhaust looks stock.

Threads like this make me glad I stayed stealth underhood. Failing visual will always vary from smog shop to smog shop as it depends on the tester and his mood as much as anything. I had a non-CARB intake on my S2000 that was an AEM knock off, so I printed off the CARB info on AEM, showed it to the tech, told him I bought before CARB went through and he was totally cool with it.

FWIW, I have a VF34 setup with stock IC, TBE, and custom Cobb AP tune on my 03 WRX. I went with STi catless uppipe and black Samco y-pipe to stay stealth underhood. I put the stock DP and mid-pipe back on, switched to a conservative map and passed both visual and tailpipe with flying colors.

I just passed smog on a 04 wagon with sti catless uppipe, maddad v2 catted downpipe , perrin drop in filter, perrin turbo inlet hose, stock turbo, stock intercooler, stock, chimmey uppipe heatshield, perrin intercooler hoses, GM solenoid, & SPT axleback exhaust, with stage 2 accessport EQ Tuning map. If you look stock you'll pass visual and then just need to pass exhaust test + the OBDII functional monitor test.

Not meaning to hijack the OP's thread, but what happens if you don't pass?

I'm in the same boat as the OP with the '04 subies now needing to be smogged. I have a catted dp, so I'm confident enough that I'd pass the emissions section, but I'm not sure about the visual since the 3" dp might be a giveaway.

#1 smog never goes past 35mph #2 you'll never hit boost at 35mph especially the way smoggers shift like Grammys#3 if you pass visual you'll more then likely pass emissions if your semi stock
