I believe the dynos run 70+k

Mustang makes setups for smog shops, I remember looking at them when we were looking at the dynos for the old shop.

Our entire setup ran us about 90k initially when this area turned enhanced. Also about 3-6k in maintainance costs per 6 months.

so there were rumors going around that CARB was going to go to a OBDII testing for smog instead of the current setups.. you heard anything about that?

If they do switch over, I assume all of the smog shops are SOL for putting out 100k in equipment?

The equipment is no longer 100k. It can be bought at dealerships and shops going out of business and installed for ~30k. I've heard rumors about that too but nothing concrete.

There is a change to smogs in 2013 but so far its mostly on the technician end. If they do go with the obd2 checks only, I've heard that it will be yearly and it will be on newer cars because as of right now brand new cars dont see us for 5-7 years and for some that means 150-200k worth of mileage and CEL light/emission failures.

I also heard about motorcycle smogging but we'll see about that one. I dont want to drop anyones Harley.

$50 in el sobrante. ghetto gas station but it's a cool shop because they have free snacks and internet while you wait.

i just went last month and he was busy when i got there and told me to come back in 1hr. i was in a bit of a hurry so i went up the street to see if i could get it done there. guy said $59 and i said sure. wouldn't pass me though because he couldn't find the "third cat" (uppipe). at least he didn't fail me and didn't charge me anything either. went back to my guy, ate some snacks, checked my email, paid $50 and passed with flying colors.
