Smog help! Please!

Hi everyone,

The time has finally come and I need a smog check. Unfortunately my mr2 has a j-spec swap and I am desperate. If anyone can point me in the direction of a smog "hook-up" it will be GREATLY appreciated. I know I will be paying a ridiculous amount of money so I have no choice but to be prepared to fork it out. I know someone out there has the connections and I am desperate at this point. I am NOT a cop/city worker/inversigator etc. Just a fellow motorhead who's run into a common problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you can't help me, there's no need to flame me on this. I just want to get this over with.

Thanks guys.

Frank

Think about it... If someone here has a smog 'hook-up' would he/she post it here
on a public forum. I wish I had a hookup. The fine is enough that even my own brother and his business partner won't give me a 'hook-up'!

I know, I know. I am barking up the wrong tree for this.

Posting would be stupid and I was hoping for a pm.
I'd be flaming this post too for the sheer desperate nature of it. This is a last resort type thing...School starts in a week and I'm outta the bay.
$150 for someone who can help me source a successful cert.

My buddy paid the money for a new catalytic converter, carb work and various other "just because" fees that the referee charges. I doubt you're going to find a "hook up" for an illegal car. Too many risks. Maybe you shoul dedicate it track only use?

Also, isn't there a limit on how much you have to spend before they just let you off? There was last time I ran into the issue, but that was ~10 year ago.

I've heard of people passing visual w/ an SR20 and Jspec 3sgte's by putting on a fake EGR valve...

but yeah, friggin' nobody ever realizes smogging is a ***** when they do their swaps. good luck, man.

Exhaust gas recirc, it pumps exhaust back into the intake for emissions.

It's only USDM cars cause america is gay like that even though this doesn't really help the environment much

But yeah, since the SR20de was in the USDM sentra, the engine looks the same except for the turbo and not having emissions control equipment (mainly the EGR) so I've heard of people hiding the turbo (i dunno how the hell that works) and such, and passing visual.

They know of all kinds of hookups for the swaps they do. =x

its shady business though, I would personally just get your smog stuff on there, and pay the carb fees.
