Smog check recommendation?

Hi,

Looking for a good place to get my car smogged in the bay area, near SF or Oakland. Please PM me your recommendation... I failed the visual inspection but have corrected it.

Btw, why a manual boost controller illegal? My understanding of it is it can be set up to increase boost but can also restrict it to a low amount. Doesn't the stock boost controller from Subaru do a similar thing?

Thanks in advance.

I'm in the same boat bro. I've got to swap out my Cobb exhaust back to stock, but I gave away the stock exhaust when I put on the TBE. I need to find some one willing to let me bum it for the day.

If you're legal it doesn't matter where you go.

If you aren't... don't be a retard and discuss it on a public forum

Technically not legal, but they won't look for it unless you have it hanging out in a very visible place. Tuck it away next to the BCS under that cover.

They get a checklist when your car comes up in the computer with what emissions equipment the car has. The 02-05 WRX basically has nothing on that list except the typical cat. Other cars that have things like air pump or EGR will have those things on the list.

SMOG techs don't go out of their way to find other stuff. They go through the list the computer spits out and they're on to the next customer. They don't go looking for extra stuff... that's the ref.

A street smog in Hayward took care of me last time. My car was all legit. I tried to pass with a high flow cat and cossworth 272's and that didnt fly so I had to run the stock dp no up and I passed with flying colors on 3 gallons of E-85.
