shuttle launch today...

dont know if anyone else gets "giddy" about this stuff...

this is the last shuttle launch for a year or so.

also this flight will include the backup person the christa mcauliffe who died, along with the rest of the challenger crew in mid 80s... (RIP)...

right now, they are on their RV travelling to the launch pad:

I'd agree...the launches never get old! Thats why I got a job where I get to deal with them all the time (work for a satellite-making company)

Did you guys catch the SeaLaunch mishap in the spring? Thankfully nobody was hurt since it was launching a satellite, but it's pretty amazing seeing an old oil rig engulfed in a ball of flames!

sealaunch dudes handled the last 3 XM bird launches...

nice operation there.


20 minutes and holding... 10 minute hold...

t minus 20 minutes and counting...

now 9 minutes and holding for 41 minutes... wow...

Pretty cool stuff. I try to catch it on the NASA channel if a launch lands on my day off. My daughter loves watching it too.
