Is it about the same for Aikido?
No. Many of our techniques and movements have multiple counts and steps.

However, in Aikido, there is also the philosophy that one should never have to use their training to inflict harm upon a helpless victim (ie. not used to attack). And we absolutely use our opponents energy to conduct the martial art - without it, Aikido almost doesn't work.

When in tournaments or belt attainment testing - the attacker is require to exert all of their energy toward the attack. Otherwise the defender will not be able to successfully complete whatever movement they are doing.

Don't practice in a Dojo anymore, I used to go to Western Aikido Yoshokai Enbukan Dojo in Mountain View then I got busy and started practicing at home when I had time.

Why is it that I find the "assault weapons in the bathroom" photos so funny?

Haha yeah I remember "back in the day" you always had these guns laid out all over the floor and then the angry mirror pics. I was looking around for pics of my guns but I cannot even find one. Not sure why but then I never had more than 10 at any time. I think I took some snaps of the 1800's Ithaca dbl barrel I had since it is a family heirloom but again couldn't find them.
