A question about Aikido though, in Aiki we tend towards the fact that if you need more than one hit/move to disable/kill someone, you did something wrong. Most of my instructors have emphasized that to attack first is a sign of impatience and inexperience, that it's generally better to wait for your opponent to attack you and use their energy against them. Is it about the same for Aikido?
However, in Aikido, there is also the philosophy that one should never have to use their training to inflict harm upon a helpless victim (ie. not used to attack). And we absolutely use our opponents energy to conduct the martial art - without it, Aikido almost doesn't work.
When in tournaments or belt attainment testing - the attacker is require to exert all of their energy toward the attack. Otherwise the defender will not be able to successfully complete whatever movement they are doing.

I think this one looks legit. The other ones on YouTube don't look so hot.

Haha yeah I remember "back in the day" you always had these guns laid out all over the floor and then the angry mirror pics. I was looking around for pics of my guns but I cannot even find one. Not sure why but then I never had more than 10 at any time. I think I took some snaps of the 1800's Ithaca dbl barrel I had since it is a family heirloom but again couldn't find them.
