what kinda HP can these gears handle? will this setup allow you to launch without worries of the teeth sheeding?
so these gears make it so the weakest part of the WRX tranny is the casing?

yeah RA is the way to go
... tranny case flex? LMAO show us one that broke to date and then I go look for another alternative fix. Good testament and only one accurate to date is Neil Bliss's rally car that we sponsor (first set of RA's we installed on a race/rallycar for testing) RA set and lots of real rally miles and still going strong.
For now RA it is.

key board techs that do not race or wrench on cars dont know any better.. LOL.blah blah blah..!

qoute: Cons-
*with professional installation, gets you more than halfway to the cost of the 6 speed
*doesn't address 5MT case flex, which is the real cause of broken gears
*much much shorter gearing kills fuel economy on the freeway. Imagine not having 5th gear anymore.
*synchros are the same, so all the same shifting rules still apply. You can't "abuse" those gears any more than the stocks.
lol.
sorry but like I said keyboard techs dont know any better...do you even know the weight on a 6 speed
...
this I do not even agree on.. blah blah blah !!!!!!!!

Gino, I didn't post the link to that other thread to badmouth the installation of the RA gearset so there is no need to slam someone else with a different opinion on case flex. On the contrary, I cited it because it covers most of the common questions that are asked about this gearset and installation at MPJ/GB Motorsports (cost, core exchange, cryo treatment, etc.). After reading the thread I linked to, I decided to have the RA gearset installed into my 5MT at your shop (when I can get the money together).
Sorry if I didn't make my favorable impressions of the RA gearset clear, earlier.

no worries
...They will read the openning replies and I had to make it clear is all.
not directed to anyone as I did not even mention any names. I like you all.
I just did not want anyone to believe that the personal opinions stated were accurate to date and that we agree with the statements.
Every transmission case has flexing and Subaru doesnt even make a pure steel casing for the tranny on WRX/STi. LMAO....
Reality is that the gears (1st and 2nd, rarely 3rd but we have done a few) are the only ones shredding and "case flex my @ss". The gears strip due to design weakness due to stress on TQ loads. Loss of fuel economy? give me a break!!! , loosing 5th gear? more BS.
When the new tranny (design weakness retrofit) comes out as a surplus, then maybe it can be a better replacement, for now RA set into the original case flexing, fuel sapping, 5th gear loser & blown tranny will have to do.
And it makes the car faster and that my friend is why we drive and own these pocket rockets !!!
I hope this makes a few folks smile...
Thanks you again
gino
edited to say thank you !
