So there's this lesbian that lives across the street from me and she's got a Datsun 240Z that's in pretty good shape. I've been drooling over it for a while, and looking at the way she treats it, it doesn't seem that valuable to her. As such, I'm thinking of offering to buy it from her.
My question is, what would be a fair offer? I've googled around for values, but I can't really find much info. From what I can see, it's a 2-seater but I can't tell what year it is and if it's even a 240Z as opposed to an early model 260Z since it's modded up. No dents on the body but the paint's peeling in places. Interior looks pretty decent: no tears or rips, but it's kinda dirty. No idea on the mileage but probably pretty low since she never drives that thing anywhere.
It drives me nuts seeing that thing parked outside all the time and being moved only when it's street cleaning day (and not every time either haha!).
I'd really appreciate any help from any of y'all here, both in terms of putting an offer on the car, and if it's even worth buying. Tapioca's on me to those that help me if I pick it up haha!

don't know where that **** has been the last 30 or so years with that first line description.
and yeah, dont offer less than $1000 since thats what any car is worth that runs and looks decent. If you offer too low she will catch on and not sell you the car even if you up your offer.

damn I wish I had room for another 240, I would honestly skip an LS swap, a 300 hp SR20 swap would be more than enough fun in a 2200lb car, would knock another 100lbs off and sits completely behind the front axle so you get a perfect FM setup, and you can still use a later R180 or 300zx R200 rear end that bolts right in
Ive driven around in a 240 with a SB 350 before, theres no traction at all(try getting bigger than 245s out back), their wheel base is too short (both hands on the wheel at ALL times!) and the 30+yo frame just cant handle that much torque.
post a couple pics if you can, I'll tell you what year it is
