I wonder if that car ever went to a Led Zepplin concert. How cool would that be?

depends on what you would do with it. Your Jetta is a project, right? If so it's a fun bulid (unless you are tired of it already). If the Celica is nearly done, would it just be for the weekends? It is clean though! If you do decide to get it you gotta get rid of the blue stripe thing! Maybe sell the Jetta and dump it back into the Rex. There's always room to dump something into the Rex!

I assume your Rex is your daily driver!

I planned on entering this thread and simply post 'yes' without even looking at the picture.

But, now that I've seen the picture, I don't think you should buy it. I should buy it.

BTW, how did your buddy get the amber-colored high beams? I wanna do that to my Corvair someday (they look like vintage Lucas "Flamethrower" bulbs).

It's not really a bench-racing sort of car. My old RWD Celica had a 20R (2.2L I4) with some mild mods (TRD header, Weber 38/38, etc) so it prolly making somewhere around 110-115hp but people in STi's and Boxters, etc would ALWAYS hold me up at Thunderhill and then drag race me on the straights. It was actually really annoying having to brake in turns with my $1200 toyota because the guy in the 300hp rally car won't get outta the way...

Sorry but I don't buy that the RWD Celica handled better in corners than an AWD ANYTHING! Let alone an STi. they must have not known how to drive, and in that case should have let you by.

Old Toyota are awesome. I'm waiting for my grandma to give up driving so i can have her '80 Corolla Coupe. only 79k original miles and she is the original owner!

Mr. Wiggles: yes, you should pick up that celica.

AWD isn't always the best handling on a road course

Bwaaahahaha.. That is the stupidest thing I have heard all day!

Get out to a track for a track day, and you will forget what you read in magazines. Maybe they *didn't* know what they were doing, but this happened in prolly 5 different track days, all Group 3 where people should know what they are doing and should move over for the "slower" cars that want to pass them. Last time out there was some dude in a Z06 who was pissed at an instructor who told him to let the Miatas by... He eventually totalled his car on the back straight.

Glad I could entertain. I stand by my point. With a properly dialed STi suspension (take the damn postive camber out of the front) it will blow away the lightly modded Celica in cornering.

I don't want to go tit for tat or speculate on your experience so please don't speculate on mine. I get my info from driving the car and not "reading magazines". You should really try to hit some of the roads I daily on, they would blow your mind (the corners). So I was basing it off my experience and not just telling a keyboard story. I also can say I am not 100% on all things so there is room for error, but I truly believe awd is far superior in cornering capabilites. You made it seem like the 115hp oldschool Celica blows away STi's handling which I very much disagree with.
