Should I feel sorry for this Escalade driver?
The guy was weaving through heavy traffic (around the 880/Mission Blvd onramp) yapping on his cellphone. At one point, his grill must've been less than a foot from my bumper (going around 45-50mph)...he then serves one lane...swerves back onto my lane and cuts me off real hard. Continues on his way blissfully ignorant while cutting people off left and right and driving really dangerously in his enormous Escalade.
At the 880/237 interchange, I stop at McCarthy ranch for a coffee. 5 minutes later, I'm back on 237 and there's almost stop and go traffic now...WTF. 10 minutes of crawling later, right past the North First Street Exit, I see the cause of the traffic. Escalade flipped over with a crushed roof. crap strewn all over the freeway. Cops and firemen are looking over the highway railing, so I'm thinking the guy may have been thrown quite a ways. No other cars involved as far as I can tell.
(BTW, for those about to head home from work...this was about 3:30 Eastbound 237...so try taking Tasman home instead of 237...and get back on at Zanker).
I hope the guy is alive (I doubt it)...but just so he learns a lesson.

Sucks that he crashed, but there's a reason why talking on the phone, road rage and driving suvs have been pretty high up there on ways to get in to accidents =P And it sounds like he was kinda ragin while talking on the phone in an suv, and in traffic no less.

No I think Steven wants to know how the CHP determined it's a hit and run.
Although I wouldn't want to wish any harm to anybody, the driver got what he deserved.
