I bet they used a air chisle or a ball joint seperator, Which is a huge pitch fork that they pound the **** out of to pull the ball joint out.

The tech did it, Now is claiming "duh" But yeah its a sealed system. You would have that problem before or you'd see grease,

Oh I know that,... But do you think we'd be chatting about it nowif that was used?

guys, thanks for the replies. I have the old ball joint in hand, and the boot is NOT torn in any way that I can see. However, I could take the top part of the joint and the threaded part and pull it apart, which I believe if what is causing the play that i experienced

i think maybe they took a BFH and wailed on the lower control arm to get it to come apart from the ball joint when they were trying to pull the hub away so they could get more room to pull the axle off the transmission during the original job, and in doing so damaged the ball joint (the play that is in the old joint is prob a result of the first few wacks, and the ball joint breaking before the LCA came loose)

i guess this is what i get for being lazy.. i did a similar job (remove passenger side front axle) on a rusty old GS-R and i just couldn't be bothered to do it myself this time...
