Short shift kits
hi i dont really know much about them. is there a difference between brands? do they feel different? any help would be appreciated =]
when i had my 02wrx, i had a kartboy SS with their shifter bushings.
it was like almost night and day.
on my 04 STi, i just went with the KB bushing since it kinda has a SS already.
the subaru SS kit replaces ALL the linkages in the shifter. the KB SS (and others) only replace the shifter, which shortens the throw.
imo, doing the bushing first may get rid of the sloppy feeling with the rubber bushing that is OEM.
i remember alex crawling underneath my car at the parking lot of the old location of bozz in fremont installing the bushing. the SS itself was easier.
when it was time to trade in the 02 for the STi, i returned the oem shifter and i could tell right away that there was a longer throw.

IMO you should get the subydude short shifter. I've had the wrx style and worked and felt great. Since I got rid of my wrx and got my STI, I still got the subydude short shifter and I still like it. If you give them a call, they can explain to you what makes their shifter good.

I'm rocking the Kartboy short shifter and bushings. I'm very satisfied with that set up, but I haven't tried any other brands yet.
Good luck!

So with the short shifter from the factory comes with all the fittings as opposed to an after market one that may only change the actual shifter.
I have the factory short throw on my STI and I like it. Do any other brands have a shorter throw?
