Shopping for Car Insurance

Who do you guys use?

I have/had Farmers, but after getting a speeding ticket last year, it's up $300.

I'm pulling quotes from:
Wawanesa
Progressive
Geico
State Farm

Anyone have any particular input or horror stories?

I'm in the same boat as you... I'd say negative on progressive. I had nothing but bad experiences from them.

I use State Farm and after my last car was totalled I was completely underwhelmed by their claims service. The other guy was entirely at fault (got rear ended sitting at a red) but they took literally a month to even do anything about it. On the other hand, I thought the guy had Mercury insurance and while they weren't the policy providers (it was St. Paul-Mercury insurance) they called my back with all the info the same day. I called State Farm and they didn't have half the information re: the other guy that Mercury provided. So I haven't switched yet, but if I did Mercury would be near the top of my list.

Crap, progressive's website sucks ***. But it's coming in at about $1500 for two cars and two drivers.
Geico is coming out $300 more than my current inflated insurance! $1700, for two cars.

AAA is $1589
21st Century is $1569/6mo
AllState is $1463/6mo
Liberty Mutual is $1330/6mo
State Farm is $1280/6mo
Wawanesa is $1262/6mo
Nationwide is $1260/6mo
Esurance is quoting $1000/6mo
Liberty Mutual follow-up quote is $894/6mo.
Geico is $850/6mo.
Farmers is $790/6mo
Progressive is $760/6mo

Yikes.

That's with my SpecB and a G20, for my wife and myself.

+1 on state farm being slow with claims. I had two motorcycles stolen within the last 2 years. I didn't see anything in terms of money for over a month. Granted they had a grace period of 21 days to see if the bike was found. Gave me a fair amount for both.

Side note- first one was part of a police chase off 680 and hostetter about 2 years ago. Guy tried to outrun the cops at 2 in the morning. Took a turn at 100+ mph and missed it. Bike ended up in 4 pcs and guy was in 2 pcs. Rip.

Geico's done me good for the last few years.
Depending on what sort of policy you want, you really have to shop around. Premiums vary greatly from company to company for various coverages.
