Noah, does this mean you guys aren't replacing blown motors either? Or just not the 2.5rs N/A to newer turbo swap?

no this is ONLY for conversions (as that is what this thread is about). A conversion and Motor swap are 2 very different things.

-Conversion = NA to turbo (GC8-to-WRX/STi)
-Motor Swap = NA to NA, or Turbo to Turbo...does not matter its just a matter of block choices and other various items but background core is the same (i.e. its still a turbo model or its still a NA model)

we have always done motor swaps and do them on a daily basis here each and every day

well I stick my foot in my MOUTH...another conversion to be "fixed" is on its way in.

see you never know what/when we'll continue to fix other shops f ups that say they wire these GC's right, even though they don't...EVER....ahh to eachs own.

we're happy to make it right but again, hopefully customer will be happy to have car back in "PROPER" running order that is

its called tax evasion

Or...CC fees, as Noah stated already and from my experience with other businesses offering a discount if paying cash. CC fees are around 2~3% (not confirmed).

With the amount the govt taxes on capital gains, I wouldnt put it past business owners to do whatever they can to stay in business. If it comes down to that.

We stopped doing them back in 07, started back up in 08...and after the last one we had in here we said NO MORE.

Here is the reasoning: LIC Motorsports got tired of answering the TONS and I mean TONS of emails, phone calls, etc... on how its done, what about this, what about that...blah blah blah. Only to have that same "potential customer" go to another shop to have it done for "cheaper" WHICH IT NEVER WAS and in the end have that customer come back to LIC pissed off that the car doesn’t work right, it never has, they spent $xx,xxx and now they are pissed and don’t have money to fix it. In the end did they fix it with us? Yes, but it never left the customer with a good feeling nor did it leave us with one....SO WE SAID no more. We are not going to be a business whom others feel are a rip off only to have them come back 6-9-12 months later when it didn't work out elsewhere. Do you know how hard it is to diagnose/decipher through someone else's wiring mess? Not the easiest task I can say that much, and NOBODY wants to pay for the expertise, for if they did, they would of brought it here in the first place. So the cost they assumed they saved just cost them double....not the best outcome IMHO.

We know our stuff, especially when it comes to those conversion setups...others claim to be the end all on it but I can say this with a decent warning, know what you get yourself into.

That's my $0.02 on the matter and will we never do one again...I don't know. I won't ever say never b/c their is always someone out there who will appreciate the expertise/craftsmanship we instill in those and everything we do
here.

***AGAIN this is in referrence to conversions only (GC8-to-WRX/STi), and has nothing to do with your standard motor swaps (NA-to-NA, WRX-to-STi, etc...) Purely speaking about GC8-to-WRX/STi Conversions)***

This is a common feeling at most shops. Dealing with anyone elses rat's nest is a headache plus some.

if you got a 3000 dollar job and you pay with a credit card, the 3% merchant fee is going to be around 90 bucks, so some shops might offer a cash discount if the job about is high enough, not to mention credit card scams and what not, we have so far had a few people report their credit cards stolen and guess who took a loss.

IMHO cc fees are a cost of conducting a legit business.

I give 10's of thousands to them yearly and I happily do it
