Most of the labor is going to be that massive mess of a wiring job, so if you're really good with wiring, this'll be ...fun?

I also asked LIC about swapping my 98L last month and they said they are no longer doing swaps.

i only assumed since salvator rizzo seems to run by there a bunch he would know if they were starting back up... i can totally see them NOT wanting to do them though.

First thank you all for the praises, which is really directed at Adam (owner of LIC), as he is the mastermind behind those conversions (GC8-to-WRX/STi).

We stopped doing them back in 07, started back up in 08...and after the last one we had in here we said NO MORE.

Here is the reasoning: LIC Motorsports got tired of answering the TONS and I mean TONS of emails, phone calls, etc... on how its done, what about this, what about that...blah blah blah. Only to have that same "potential customer" go to another shop to have it done for "cheaper" WHICH IT NEVER WAS and in the end have that customer come back to LIC pissed off that the car doesn’t work right, it never has, they spent $xx,xxx and now they are pissed and don’t have money to fix it. In the end did they fix it with us? Yes, but it never left the customer with a good feeling nor did it leave us with one....SO WE SAID no more. We are not going to be a business whom others feel are a rip off only to have them come back 6-9-12 months later when it didn't work out elsewhere. Do you know how hard it is to diagnose/decipher through someone else's wiring mess? Not the easiest task I can say that much, and NOBODY wants to pay for the expertise, for if they did, they would of brought it here in the first place. So the cost they assumed they saved just cost them double....not the best outcome IMHO.

We know our stuff, especially when it comes to those conversion setups...others claim to be the end all on it but I can say this with a decent warning, know what you get yourself into.

That's my $0.02 on the matter and will we never do one again...I don't know. I won't ever say never b/c their is always someone out there who will appreciate the expertise/craftsmanship we instill in those and everything we do
here.

***AGAIN this is in referrence to conversions only (GC8-to-WRX/STi), and has nothing to do with your standard motor swaps (NA-to-NA, WRX-to-STi, etc...) Purely speaking about GC8-to-WRX/STi Conversions)***

So Noah, if someone came up, cash, car, and motor in hand and said "will you do the swap for me", no BS, no questions, just cash, would you still say no?

more than likely yes it would still be a NO.

the "cash" option has no value to me, folks toss this one all the time at me...."hey I got cash man, how about you lower the bill" which I turn around and say how about you call my landlord and tell them I can't afford rent, or here is PG&E's number tell them we want to bargain with them on their "Price", or even better here take a look at my son's picture...tell him I can't afford his meds this month and we're going back to the hospital b/c someone felt they deserved $0.04 off the bill.

long and short...I don't know who is going to present me with the "right scenario", or if it would happen again. We've had some slow times here where I could of easily supplemented a conversion for down time and I still didn't do it. Nothing against the conversion guys, just the situation is crummy all around.

On the upside of things, NEVER and I mean NEVER has any conversion we have ever completed ever been back for issues

I totally get what your saying. By "cash" I meant "no questions asked, you/LIC knows best and I will be happy to pick up my car when your done" kind of thing.

But I totally see where your coming from.

I never got what people were going after when they say 'cash' like its a word for discount lol. Cash or card in my eyes should be the same price cus the job still cost what it costs not like the shops can get parts at a better deal from their sources if they bought with 'cash'. Its like people think shops buy out of trunks or back alleys for cash deals lol. sorry to get in the middle of something but the 'cash' deal thing I hear people say I always thought was odd.

^^^ Bingo ^^^

well I guess some feel they save us from the credit card fees, to me that's a cost of conducting business and it is what it is...if someone pays cash great but at the end of the day it still goes to the MAN (aka the bank), its not like I pocket said "CASH" and now its worth more than if its plastic...idk

maybe I'm wrong, lol
