Geez, who'da thought that the Sunset was like this?!

Com'n guys. As sad as it seems, it happens all over the Bay Area, all the time. It's just a little more urgent when it's close by.

Read the paper this afternoon and they said that the guy had a criminal record and that he was the target and the poor girl just happened to be a the wrong place at the wrong time.

My daughter won't be allowed to date until she's 30 or until she can handle a .45

I agree. People (including myself) don't react until it reaches close to home. But yeah, bad stuff pretty much happens everywhere

while the Sunset is not like Sunnydale, HP, etc, there are quite a few crimes that go down out there. Unfortunately, the violent crimes seem to have increased over the years, but there have always been extortions, home invasions, armed robberies (especially banks), and other criminal activity. Homocides are pretty rare in the region though.

Frankly, no neighborhood is immune to crime...even violent ones. My friend's neighbor in Hillsborough got killed during a home invasion several years ago, and heck, if you can get mauled by dogs in Pacific Heights, I guess you're fair game anywhere!

Best thing to do is always be aware of your surroundings no matter where you are. Whether it's day or night, there's always some scumbag out there!
