Well I had bought some used OEM springs and struts for my 03 Wrx sedan from a member on this board. The package came yesterday from FedEx, and the box was totally f-ed up! No suprise there as FedEx seems to mess up a lot packages that I have recieved from them. I open the box and instead of finding the 4 springs and struts I had bought I only find two struts and 1 spring!!!!
Needless to say I'm am pissed. I call up FedEx right away and ask if perhaps this shipment was coming in two packages, they tell me that no it is only one package and that they are sorry the box arrived in horrible shape. They operator, who is very helpful, traces the package back and says that it was shipped from a Mail Box Etc and that it was only listed at 2lbs, strange becasue the box says it weighs 75lbs, but it feels like it weighs 30-40lbs. So the operator said to contact the sender first, which I already had done, and tells me that the package was sent uninsured and that I could file a claim.
I didn't want to file a claim right away because I wanted to see what the sender had to say. I msged him and he tells me that he sent all 4 struts and springs in one box and that he sent it insured. Well I don't know who to believe because FedEx said the package was shipped uninsured and he says it was insured. Right now I'm giving the benifit of doubt to the sender, but I'm still out my parts!!!
Sorry guys just wanted to vent because I'm felling really really pissed right now.

Sucks man, sorry. If the sender did send the package insured, though, he should have a receipt. It sounds to me like Mail Boxs Etc might be the party that fouled this up. Good luck man.

Mail Boxes Etc is often pretty helpful. Get the sender to send you the MBE shipping receipt and give them a call.
Sucks when mail order goes awry.

yeah I asked the guy for the shipping reciept, I'm leaning towards putting the blame on FedEx for this one.

I don't need the springs but thanks, I just wanted the struts because I am getting the koni inserts with some eibach springs. I just didn't want to cut my own struts incase I ever wanted to go back to stock suspension.
Oh and yeah the box looks like it was big enough to fit 4 springs and struts, provided the springs are on the struts.

I handle the FedEx accounts at my workplace. there are several things you can do.
1.) ask fedex for a fax copy of the Airway Bill. If insured, a check is visible on the block three, declared value box and/or a dollar amount is posted on the declared value line. (it should be on lower left of the airway bill)
2.) the sender also has a copy of the AWB or receipt. if he isn't able to provide you with one... he might be lying that the shipment was insured in the first place.
3.) usually, the actual weight on the FedEx mainframe is correct since FedEx rates the shipments by weight. and sometimes box dimension. my advice, you should weigh each strut and spring and see if it matches the total weight written.
hope that helps.

If the guy shipped 4 struts in one box, he'd need a crate! No wonder the box is messed up. I contribute this to a packaging problem. The box probably collapsed somewhere along the line and the fedex guys just pack everything they can find back into it.

yeah...that's what I'm thinking what happened, but I'm gonna do what spidey50 said and get a copy of the AWB and go from there. This just really sucks, I just want my parts.
