Classing only matters if you get on the podium... which you won't be anywhere near at your first event.
Nothing to do with you as a person, Autocrossing is to too specialized for the "wonder kid" win

^ Even if it's your first time, it's always good to know what car your class falls into. With how timing software works for SFR, it's extremely helpful. Also, the last time I checked you can't preregister for FUN. You have to register for FUN on site, which means paying an extra $10. Running in class even if you don't expect to do well will at least save you $10.

If you have one cat (doesn't matter if it's high flow or OEM), you're STX like Jourdan said. If you're catless, then CSP.

Not true at all. I've seen a good amount of wonder kids and even older guys who just show up and are fast.

Usually younger kids though. If you got it, you got it.

Was going to spend Saturday in Monterey. If me and my fiance register in the FUN class can I still preregister?

Just looking for the most affordable way we can both get some laps in.

You can't preregister for FUN. If you don't care about points, then it doesn't matter if you run in class. Figure out when you want to run and what classes your car falls into: CS, STX, CSP, T2 CSP/SM, SM, NS CS (for new people).

It makes a lot of older cars un-competitive.
