you don't want to be poking your noses around mclaren park even in daylight. it's a notorious dumping ground for cars and bodies. most SF'ers know that. no joke. that's where they found one of my friends in his car...still can't believe that. (RIP)

that is still a rough area? wow ... anyways, lets stay in the Presidio/Legion of Honor area
I've heard about that. But I've been there plenty of times during the day. It's not bad. There is a lovely dog park there with a lake built just for doggies to swim in. Uber cute!

Heh, I knew us Native S.F.'ers were a rare breed
Me?
Born at St. Mary's
Schooled at St. Anne's -> Cornerstone Academy (yuck) -> Zion Lutheran -> Lowell High School (grunt) -> University of San Francisco
I now currently reside in Honolulu, HI, the fulfillment of a lifelong dream hehe.
But I tell you, if San Francisco were still like it was in the '90s, I totally would not have moved. I think the only other places I would want to live are '80s era Hong Kong, current-day Tokyo, or current-day Yokohama.

yes, mclaren park is still a rough area. they've been trying to clen up the area forever, incl putting in that dog park area penguin mentioned, but it's still a pretty unsafe spot. i'd be really careful around there, penguin. even w/your doggy and during the day, stuff happens over there. one of my fam members was pretty up there in sfpd and i have several friends+acquaintances that currently roll, so i hear about the bad stuf and other goings on in the city. one of my best hs buds is in the gang task force in the east bay, so i hear a lot about out yonder too.
anyways, not trying to freak y'all out.....just fyi.
