if you're looking in to entry level you can look at the pyrotect's. they're relatively inexpensive... except the foam seal between my visor and my helmet peeled off. got mine at wine country...

also, cycle gear i dont believe stock car helmets... you need one that's made for cars, multiple impact versus single impact

That is true - Cycle Gear is moto only.

These days as far as I have read and heard, the only differences are that SA helmets have fire retardent linings and do not need to conform to the visibility standards that M helmets do. The impact tests are the same. If someone is getting into a race class though they should definitely invest in an SA helmet - just for the rules.
