Seen the new SCC?
Okay skip the wtlw business. (I just learned what that means a couple days ago haha)
They have a pretty solid article on modding the WRX that includes the XEDE, SPT suspension setup, VF30, Vishnu Stages 0, 1, and 2, and Vishnu Exhaust. It starts of with appreciable praise of the reliability and performance of the Suby (number 24 in the US I believe and with the opposite of break-in procedure for the 1st 1000 miles).
They say that the SPT suspension is good on flat roads but seem very disappointed in its performance over rough roads. This is very interesting because I've read many reviews (gtguy in particular) that claim that the SPT package improves the rough road manners of the car as well. Weird. They went on to say that they will test at least the DMS and Bridgestone Praxis (awesome idea, http://www.praxissystems.com/ check it out if you haven't already) systems in the future. I cannot wait until they review those!!!
They go on to compare the Vishnu Exhaust to the Supersprint (WTH?) system they had on previously. They also supply various dyno charts with different stages of mods which I think will be very beneficial to the average WRX owner as well as Shiv
.
The one thing I thought that was funny was that in one of the captions in which they were talking about fuel pumps they said, "This is apparently not a common problem, but our WRX (VIN number 24) is one of the oldest GDB WRXs in the country, so we expect other WRXs will have this problem as they age. It would be wise to install a new fuel tank seal with the pump."
Well I wasn't under the impression that they were importing STis here yet but then again I do sleep a lot.
Also, Tokico is coming out with 45 way adjustable coilovers and Progress is coming out with COs as well. Eibach is also producing COs that are buile totally in-house but did not specify whether they will produce for the WRX. (Why wouldn't they?) When will all this happen? That, my friends is the $64 million dollar question. I can guarantee that they will be available by the year 2015.
Pissed because I spoiled the fun of reading it yourself? Please send your thoughts to me at wrx@subydude.com and be sure to mention how much the Lakers suck.

I just wish SCC would spend time with someone or something not from Vishnu sometimes. There's just to much of a bias there for me to trust that they have object writing. Shiv occassionally writes for SCC.
Yeah, yeah, I know there's a few things here and there from other companies. But all the serious tuning has been through Vishnu. And I would bet all the tuning parts from now on will come from Vishnu.
Besides the fact that SCC is turning into a circus with Josh Jacquot, I find myself far, far more impressed with Turbo Magazine these days because they have more parts shoot-outs, more indepth technical TUNING columns more often. I like Dave Colemans engineering prowess, but amid all the purile trash its hard to find the good stuff. I miss SCC's old editor.... I.e. that last page with the stupid column on that stupid RX7 limo: yeah its funny. But remember what used to be there? "Detour", when you got to learn about unique stuff that was actually worth discussing because you could learn something useful. If I want to be entertained with kiddie talk and ***** I can get Tuning Concept for free.

Uh, the SPT suspension setup was designed for roads in the beginning. Why would they even think of saying it is bad for off-roading? The logic eludes me.

SCC is weak now so mainstream. Its not the 300 pages of utter car tuning bliss like it used to be.
I agree with mmboost there are tons of other products out there and they dont even give them the time of day. I dont respect that mag anymore because its turning out to be like something that goes on here a lot. Sound familiar?

Dude, her ***** are as fake as that moron's claim that his RX7 LIMO can do 200mph with FOUR passengers.
I wish they would've had a picture of the guy who owns it so I can add it to my list of pictures of stupid people.

bwahahahhahahaha. I didn't know you get could get Asians "after marlet" (sic). Editor? "tunning"(sic) ?!
Five years from now... that's SCC
OK We know that won't be the case, but like with "Tunning Concept" (sic), the concept of "editor" will be lost on them. What the hell is Argus McMillan thinking?!jason

SCC may be somewhat in decline, but until somebody makes Car And Driver for the non-Honda tuner, it's the best a Suby owner will get. Notice that since the guys there got there WRX, it's practically been all-Subaru, all the time. And circusmaster Jacquot may be, at least nobody is wiggin' over the phatty APC Altezzas and blingin' hyper-ultra-mega-blue headlights their badazz rides be sportin'. It ain't perfect, but it's generally good, and faithful to automotive ideals over marketing for the most part. Yes, Vishnu is all over their Subaru projects, but why shouldn't Shiv be there? He's a contributor, and all of those project cars are owned by staff, not the magazine itself. I can't think of a good reason for him to be servin' up the competition's good stuff instead of his own. Project RS was Shiv's car, and I believe project WRX is Jacquot's, although I could be wrong. At any rate, I owe SCC for getting me here in the first place- I was all lined up to drop 22k on a Celica GT-S when I read the '00 Eight Great Rides issue. All Suby, all the time for me since. And where else do we get to see a pimped-out Integra get the snot clobbered out of it by a carpet-queen WRX, not to mention the world's greatest Supra and one sweet Viper. Thankfully Chen left the Modena at home this time. That was pretty lame last year. And stop voting in 510s, guys! They're cooler than hell, but they get spanked! Next time I'd like to see 2 USCC- one for the all-out, cost-no-object guys who run their own shops, and one for guys who have real jobs and real cars like some of us do.
OK, I am told I am out of time. Next!

I don't even hardly buy American enthusiast mags anymore. If I see something that interests me, I will read it in the store. 85% of anything in the US mags is special interest biased advertising driven BS.
The more money you pay them, the more you products will show up, and even more money will buy you a better review.
I prefer the Auzzie mags, and the UK mags...for English articles that is...
It is a conspiracy I tell you!
