See what happens when you post street names online?

http://www.pressdemocrat.com/article...WIRE?p=1&tc=pg

"It's known as Skaggs Springs Raceway, a 10-mile pristine stretch of remote road in northern Sonoma County that attracts the fastest motorcycles and street cars from around the Bay Area and beyond."

"One weekend the beamers come out, then the Subarus, the Lotuses come out..."

"Now area residents and law enforcement officers want to bring a stop to the illegal racing and CHP officers will use the holiday weekend to step up enforcement efforts."

Buh bye Skaggs fun drives....

Are you implying that i-club condones street racing?

Bummer that the cops are cracking down on street racing, but it wasn't because of something that was posted here.

No, but there was a movement a while back that would go something like this.

n00b: "What is a fun road to drive in Sonoma?"
OG i-clubber: "******** **** Rd. is really fun."

Why aren't there more drag racing strips around? Is the profit/liability ratio too thin/risky for a successful raceway?

Profit, liability, capital, public acceptance. I remember when they were trying to put together a badass race facility down in Riverside. At one point the public I think really wasn't having it, I'm not sure if they ever got approval to build it though.

EDIT: It was to be built in Merced, themed after the famous Riverside International Raceway. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riverside_Motorsports_Park

I loved driving there. Never raced but it was definitely a nice stretch of road.

This isn't a drag racing spot. I doubt that too many actual "races" occur there. Its just a great twisty back road that has been discovered by just about every car club out there.

Never heard about it so no loss there, still plenty of roads that shouldn't ever be named

What he said.

It's just so sad. I never street raced out there, but I loved driving it. Bummer that the cops will be all over it now.

Relax bozo's, its going to be for one weekend. They arent going to send a squad car to sit out there 24/7 to watch for "races".

There's a website - www.pashnit.com - who labelled Stewarts Point-Skaggs Springs the "Holy Grail of motorcycle roads". When Bushido used to organize mass Subaru drives, that would be a nearly mandatory road to include...fast, well planned out, perfect asphalt - a NASCRAP drivers' worst nightmare, and a road course racers' best lover.
