sedan to wagon

i have a 2004 wrx sedan and am considering of buying a wrx wagon. 02-04. i was wondering how big the difference in performance is compared. also if parts are compatible like wheels and springs. does anyone have the vishnu stage 1 on their wagon? how fast are your wagons?

put a bigger rear sway bar on it and you won't notice the difference.
I think the weight difference is like 90 pounds.

Most parts are compatible. You can fit wider wheels and tires on the sedan...but if you got say a set of torques....roll the wagon fenders and you're good to go. Springs are compatible but usually don't sit right. I'd suggest getting a set of wagon specific or some coil overs.

There are some dope wagons around. Take a look at Lowballs.

yup, some wrx sedan parts are upgrades for the wagons. I wouldnt use sedan rear springs on the wagons...as they are rated different. The wagon springs are for more wieght on that big ol rear end. All your stock wrx wagon parts will be upgrades for RS's.

We can trade cars for a day and you can see how my 04 wagon feels. ;P
I personally wanted a sedan, but I still think if I could make the choice again, I would still get the wagon since I frequently have stuff to tote around. Plus, I have managed to fit a 32" widescreen TV still in the box in back of my wagon.

Not directly related to what you asking.. but wagon has very limited on aftermarket body kits incase you're thinking about it for later.

The only difference btw the wagon and sedan body style wise is the fender flares.
Performance wise I dont' think there is much of a differences with the 90lb added weight.. it's like one extra person on your car. I drive the wagon and I have sat in my firends sedan.. I have coilovers.. so my car handles way better than his.. heheheh

Wagon is more practical, the only problem is not a big choice in suspension and tire options as there's for sedan.

Current running Tein Flex.. awesome in terms of handling 1billion times better than just replacing springs and struts. No so awesome on 9th st in SF. I got use to it already... because now I practically know just about all the holes and bumps in the bay area. (atleast in places I frequently go to). Other mods performance wise.. are helix dp wiht hush.. running on AP.. (ya ya.. i know).. also defi guages if you consider those as performance mods...

Other than that.. some minor stuff.. here and there.. nothing really major.

Thumbs up The Wag!!!!

Yeah you won't notice much difference between the two performance wise. Yes with the sedan you get the box fender which allow for the wider rims and bigger/wider tires...which is not a bad deal.

Wag is cool for moving stuff, dog in the back (can't put a dog in the trunk), easy access, split rear seats, rear center head rest (can be used as a camera mount), and if you have to take a nap just bring your pillow and sleeping bag and you’re golden.

The handling is great with a few mods, as with any wrx, and the only other thing is the weight difference but I think the wagon is more balanced front to back than the sedan.

Good 1st mods would be bushing kit, struts/springs or coilovers, tires/rims, larger rear sway bar. I always start with suspension and then go with power mods and then brakes if you need to depending on how much power and driving needs.

If they made a STi wagon for the states then I'd get one, other wise I'm sticking with my 02 wag and just upgrade along the way until they do. I think Subaru is coming out with a XT STi, but don't quote me on that or on what it will come with if they do.

But suspension is the place to start IMO.

Plus its stealth and you won't get anyone trying to come up on you and start revving like they want some.

If you get a wagon, get a 05.

I have a 03 wagon, which for the most part babied. I’ve been very gentle on the tranny, but it still went **** up! Two weekends ago I tried one of my friends 05 Wagon and couldn’t believe how much smoother the shifting was – granted it only had 12000 miles, it was still a thousand times better than mine is right now. Made me want to trade my 03 Wagon for a 05.

Other than that I’ve been super happy with mine! I would love to own an STi, but reality is – I would be miserable with a sedan. I really need the convenience of the Wagon. Evey time I need to carry big boxes or some cargo it makes me realize how convenient the space back there is.
