Saw a helicopter land near Lick Observatory today
Decided to drive Mines Rd. up Mt. Hamilton, and when I got to Lick there were some emergency vehicles up by the other telescope (the one down the road from the Observatory). A fire engine and an ambulance were sitting in the middle of the road, and I think the EMTs were looking after someone near the road ( I didn't get a good look).
Anyway, when I parked up at the observatory, a helicopter was coming in for a landing. It made a couple of circles as it descended to the helipad, and everyone in the parking lot watched it come in. Of course, I pulled out my camera, lined up the shot, hit the shutter and <bleep>, it shut off. Out of juice and no spare battery.

Edit: Ugh, I'm not sure I should even bother posting these pictures... they're soooo bad.
If you squint really hard, you might see a smudge that looks like a helicopter.
Here's the Lick Seismograph showing the 4/4/10 7.2 magnitude quake in Guadalupe Victoria
