Are you stuck on a Savage? Or are you open to other rifles?
If you give us more info, like what sort of caliber, what type of rifle, etc, we can then narrow down your choices and recommend something that would reflect your desires pretty accurately.
So please, let us know.
We're more then happy to help ya out.

We're more then happy to help ya out.Ive shot rifles, shotguns and handguns before and I would like to get a rifle that I can get for around $750 or less that I can make accurate up to 700-800 yards. Kind of a beginner rifle that scales up, which is why I was looking at the savage rifles, because they have a low entry point, but you can add things to it.
Id like 308 or 7.62 and something that I can take small game hunting or to the range.
I can buy scopes and rings 'n **** later. This is just for the rifle.
I looked at the KelTec but their rifles look a little cheap. The RFB, on the other hand...
that RFB is currently not in a legal status in kalifornia.
it's semi auto. so unless someone comes up with a system to disable the mag release (one of the evil features of an "ASSault weapon") so it needs a tool to release, you cant get it.
i would BUY one as a soon as it does...

the knock on savage not being scalable is it doesnt have as near as aftermarket support as a remington 700.
that's why i decided on the savage vs a remmie for my first bolt action.
eventually, the upgrade path would be a getting either custom built rifle or a rifle that shoots .338 lapua magnum... at least for me.
but right now, i have everything covered from 1200 meters (even if the bad guys are in a light armored vehicle) down to zero...

My .338 Lapua rifle is:

I fell in love with the Sako TRG during a rifle training course taught by some ex marines last year. The rifle is everything it should be, and more. The only thing it's missing is a built in flesh light.

Just bury your flesh light in the ground while you are shooting... duh.
Remington 700 tactical. Free floating barrel, all the essential and nothing extra. Throw a Leupold Mark IV on it and you've got yourself a hair splitter. Tried and proven, trust me. For the dollar its the best rifle money can buy.

I agree with the above. The Remy 700 is a GREAT rifle with great aftermarket support. It's proven in both law enforcement as well as the civy sport market. You simply can't go wrong with that rifle... It's a great deal too.
