Santa Cruz Bodyshop Review

background/info
So some jackass decided to hit my car without leaving me a note at RIM while I was working there. Didn't really want to pay for the detuctable, but didn't like to drive around with a f-up fender and a scrapped bumper.

I've been going to Carmat Collision for a while. Yes, my car has gone into may accidents (3, ALL non-fault).
This time I took it in when I picked it up I noticed the FAT ding on my driver door was gone. I was like okay, cool! The guy told me he had to blend the door and thought it would look nicer if the ding was to be gone. So he took it out without charging me. My foglight bulb was out, and he replaced it for free! I was like, boy, you sure went beyond what was asked for. Get this, when I got home. I wanted to pop the hood just to see the fender install work. ALL the rock chips on my hood were GONE!! I was like wow! Dude! That's really cool!

I am really happy even I had to pay $500 for something I didn't do And I now living in Fremont not Santa Cruz anymore (read: driving all the way downa and back). Oh well.... Here is their info!

Well, I have to say, these guys are cool! They called me yesterday and said someone went down there because what I posted. So they call just to thank me for recommanding them to other people. The guy actually towed his car from somewhere far to get it repair.

So I guess I get hit a lot!

On October 11, 2003, as we driving towards the camp ground. A crazy deer decided to jump out and attack me. Luckily my RS put up a good fight and put down the animal. My Virus suffered from a busted radiator, bumper, fender, light, hood, and grill.

AGAIN, I took my car to Carmat Collision for repair. They did a super fast work. Took them 2 weeks to fix the car, but one week + was to wait for the parts to come in piece by piece. I love it that they never try to use old parts or try to fix it. Anything that is broken gets REPLACED!

Last time they fixed my FAT door ding without charging me. This time they painting my grill for free! I know my car is black and so was the grill. But painted one looks even better!

Once again, I am a happy customer.

thanks for the review....always good to have a good reference to a body shop. Specially with our shisty paint and thin panels....I just bought a clear bra...but I do have a ding.

Do you work in Santa Cruz and live in Fremont? You said driving down and back?

I am from Santa Cruz...I live in fremont as well. Off the warren exit. I love Santa Cruz. If we strike in April I am going to make a huge attempt to move back there and get a job. I am sick of S.F. and sick of the bay area. People need to learn how to merge here...haaa.

by the way, they have great warranty. I remember when I had my first deer accident and got some work through them. After almost a year later, I noticed my bumper paint chipped off a little. Didin't bother to bring it in until I was hit (yet another one) by some lady in the rear. So I took the car in AGAIN, and mentioned it to them. They fixed it without asking a single question.

I actually work in Santa Clara. But my gf is at UCSC so I am down there A LOT! I also commute from SF to Santa Clara as well. I know what you mean about the merging thing.

Man, I have such a bad luck with this car. I mean it runs GREAT! never had any mechanical issue with it except for that famous clutch judder, but was fixed under warranty. But within the two years I have the car. I've been to Carmat FOUR times already. and NONE my fault!

I had luck like that with my old civic....I honestly believe some cars are just cursed man. I sold my civic to a friend. He totalled it less than 2 months later.

UCSC...I know some folks there..haaa. I hate driving out to that school. You want to drive fast but you know there are police hiding out there..bah.

I drive to santa cruz and san juan batista a couple times a week...shoot I was in both on Wed. And last weekend twice. I got my wrx in august and it has 8k miles on it.

Hopefully before the next year is over I'll have another car to drive around town. I hope to buy an old caddy convertible.
