Is it sad that McDonalds has to advertise that they use 100% beef?

If they sold hotdogs I could understand, but they sell HAMBURGERS! Hamburgers are BEEF by default... One of their biggest advertising things is "100% Beef", they always mention it in every damn commercial.
Some fast food places advertise things like "angus beef", which means its higher end beef, but to advertise the fact that they actually use beef is pretty damn sad and pathetic.
McDonalds is a pretty sorry excuse for a fast food place... It was good when we were kids, and the only reason I'll eat there is when I'm in a nostalgic mood and I'll only eat their plain hamburgers with extra onion and ketchup.

A frightening number of places, especially in the fast food racket stretch their "hamburger meat" with "textured vegetable protein" and other fillers.
Not that 100% beef really means that much since any old part of the cow qualifies as "beef".
Angus only refers to one breed of cattle, still could be ground parts from just about anywhere in the cow.
The more I think about it, the more vegetarianism seems like a viable alternative...

Well, they can still use vegetable filler in the hamburgers and still claim the 100% beef, because for all we know they are referring to the beef that they used in the hamburger, just because it has other things like fillers doesn't mean the beef they put into it wasn't 100% beef, right?

I hope that made sense.
And I'm with you, the more I learn about how fast food is made the more I want to be a vegetarian! I tried that for a couple years back in my early 20s but I started getting sick and got really thin, so I reverted back to eating meat.

FYI, Angus beef is no better than regular beef. It's just a type of cow, as someone said, and unless that type of Kobe/Wagyu, it ain't gonna make a difference.
Also, as someone pointed out, "beef" is an ambiguous term - hell, anuses and ******** are still "beef" if they came from a cow.
However, I will give McDonald's this - they have some of the best cheeseburgers. There is something about that ratio of bun to "beef" to ketchup to pickle to cheese to onion that is just right. Now, is it really a "cheeseburger"? I don't think so, but it's good food nonetheless.

I had a girlfriend who tried being vegetarian and I think she stuck to it pretty good for about 2 years until we were at a bar and grille in Montana where she finally gave in and ordered the Prime Rib.
I don't think I could last very long at all as a veg, I love meat too much.
Giving up fast food I probably really should though, but I gots to have me a filet mignon every few weeks...
Hurray, it's Ian!!

You ever read that book Fast Food Nation, or watch those "30 days" movies/tv episodes? Everyone says it makes them stop wanting junk food/fast food/burgers, etc.
just makes me more hungry. as long as it tastes good and I don't die from it, I'm all good.
and yes, I understand, that heart attacks, being fat, etc will all kill me but...hey... you pay to play right?

funny you said sponges kyle haha.. I was just telling bryan the other day that mc'd 's burgers taste like a sponge haha.
I think in the past they used to use soy in the burgers as a filler as most places do. But still now even though they say 100% beef its still not saying much cus it tastes nasty. I don't think there is a fast food burger that i do like.. Nothing like making your own.

I'm sure there is some loophole to it being pure beef.
Honestly though, I haven't had fast food in over a year, and the last time I did have it, it was In n' Out. Before that last In n' Out even, I don't know when I was last at a real fast food place. It's not that I made a ln effort to avoid fast food, but the taste just doesn't compare to small eateries around town. The thought of the taste of fast food doesn't even appetize me.
