S.O.S. BAIC. Drivetrain messed up from driving on spare
Hey guys.. im not sure if anyone has any advice or whatever... but heres the situation.
I had to drive on spare on my 06 STi.... after 20 miles the transmission started crapping out. Ive talked to a bunch of people and they said this would happen.
I dont know what to do.

Ug, sucks to hear Nat! I didn't know that this could even happen, why the hell would subaru provide a spare that can damage the car!?
I'm glad I have two extra STi wheels that I can use for a spare... I'm going to put the full size spare in my trunk before I leave the house and get rid of my regular spare.

bbs with stock tire size... but they are BFGs so 45 series vs 45 series differs.
according to my lovely Paul there is only 1 centimeter that the drivetrain can account for.

That SUCKS, I'm so sorry to hear about that.
I guess i'm lucky enough to have not yet (**Knocking on wood furiously**) had to change my tires.
So, blacktraxgirl, you swapped out the OEM spare and set the DCCD on manual and Full Rear? That's all i can remember the owner's manual really saying about using a spare. AND IT CRAPPED OUT?
Also, was the spare you used mounted on the front or rear?
Would appreciate any further details you have, so this fellow 06 owner will be sure to not mess up my diffs...

Cheston... in all honesty i didnt read the manual... which is why im in this predicament. But apparently there was another piece in there that refers to :you should not put the spare on the rear for any reason what so ever.
Code... rotate tires. that wear is normal, if you have more wear than is reccomended, you should buy new tires, but when you buy tires make sure to buy 4 no matter what the other 2 might look like.

Hope the fix is quick, straightforward, and as painless as possible. Best of luck!

no prob! but i would reccomend if you get a flat get it taken care of, and not driving on the spare, especially if you dont have your factory tires on the other rims. All manuf. have different specs when it comes to the height of the tire... 45 on the BFG is just enough out of spec from the Bridgestone 070s. Just words of warning.
i HOPE the fix is easy and quick, but I am not counting on it at all. Everyone please put good thoughts out and keep your fingers crossed for me!
