s-03 tire blowout

ugh what a way to end the night, just leaving a friends house around 2am and murging onto the freeway when my front right tire blew out. About two weeks ago on the way to gruppe-s it was really really low on air so i filled it up and it's been fine since. been checking the pressure every day to make sure it's holding and the pressure always was the same but the car still pulled to the right a tiny bit. guess something was wrong with the tire as it finally decided to blow. anyone know about warranty on tires if the company deals with it or the shop i ordered them through does? Probably just replace this one tire since they are fairly new (5k miles) and have a good amount of tread left.

If you get your tires from Americas Tire Co, get the Road Hazard package. You pay $15 per tire, and if you blow one out, they replace it, no questions asked.

does that mean he'll have to replace all 4 to even the treadwear? or will it not make that much difference?

Yeah, won't make a difference at 5k. Just put the new tire up front.

Sounds like it was a possible incorrect mounting. Especially for S-03s with very stiff sidewalls, they can be a biznatch to mount onto a wheel. With that happening, it's possible to rip the bead, which is the part that holds the tire to the wheel. That can cause a small airleak, and even seal that problem with enough PSI in the tire. That could be why your tire was low, but when you aired it up, it was fine.

How did the tire blow? If it's the tread separating from the sidewall, then take it to whichever shop that mounted it, ask them to dismount it, and check the bead for any type of tear since that kind of blowout shouldn't damage any more of the bead than what was put on mounting or dismounting.

just my .02

Seriously guys... Don't take your tires ANYWHERE other than Americas Tire Co. They stand behind their work 100%.

I used to work with America's Best Tire Co. all the time, and have had great results from them.

nope, the rim with the little bend is in the rear. i rotated my tires a couple weeks ago.

I'm not sure about poor mounting of the tire. I ordered them from Christian's shop and he had his friend mount them for me. Guess i'll give him a call and see.

hah acually it was just a nail. i didnt even look at the tire last night since i didnt get back to my car till 4am to put a stock rim/tire in the rear and move that tire up front to fit over my brakes. Tiny nail dead in the center of the tire. Can tire shops fix this by removing the nail and patching it or is this something where i need a whole new tire?

well if the tire blew, then it should be unrepairable, if it was just flat, you should be able to patch the hole......

another person thinking s03 sale.. hahah
