Rubbing rear fenders with 17x8 225/45/17!?!
just put some 17x8 et48 5zigen fn01rc on my gf car (2007 2.5i impreza sedan) with 225/45/17 falken 912s
rubbing in the rear on the rubber fender thing on the outside on bumps/dips
now ive had this same size tire, and have had wider, while being lower on my wrx and never had this problem...
is the 2.5i suspension softer so that the rear compresses more and rubs? or are her struts just blown so they don't rebound properly?
i know this shouldnt be rubbing at all, so im wondering if i need to replace the shocks, or just roll the fenders and call it a day
on that note, who has a hookup on fender rolling in sf or the south bay? i searched and a lot of the CL ads have expired that people posted
anything is appreciated TIA

Alignment differences between your cars??
Suspension geometry? The tire? (912s run fat in the overall width)...
So many reasons this could happen, but bad shocks? Not one of them...

Seems like an odd issue. I haven't read of anyone having this kind of issue with such a high offset. Especially with standard tires.

Thanks for the responses...
I'm pretty sure the fenders are the same, ill check tomorrow, the old tires are gone already, so can't check that...rear camber is at stock settings, and it def isn't cuz of the 45, 225/45 is stock sti tire size and it never rubs on an sti
No one knows if 2.5i suspension is softer so it compresses more vs wrx or sti?
And who knows of a good fender roller?

when was the last alignment done??
edit - did she buy the car used?? it might be worth checking to make sure nothing is tweaked on the underside as that tire size should not rub

Looks like both the WRX and the 2.5i have the same wheel base, but the stock tire size for the WRX is 215/45/17. That's almost a half inch narrower than what you're running right now.
Don't know where you purchase your tires from, but if it's from any of the corporate retail shops in the area, most of those places have a 30 day ride guarantee. Just tell them you don't like the way the tires handle.

Alignment was done right after install, I did it myself at the tire shop I work at..
Hah the tires are fine, just want to get rid of the rubbing...
G_ride thanks for the response, that's what I figured as well
Now, who can get me a good rear fender roll, and what suspension fits the 2.5i? I'm assuming 2007 wrx struts/springs will work?
