Roger Kraus Tires/Racing in Castro Valley. The only place I go for tires and alignments. I just got 4x 225/40-18 Potenza RE050A's from them - these tires are pretty impressive so far.

I wouldn't recommend the RE960s, but if you're set on them, I'd look elsewhere than America's Tire unless you have a hookup there (I think a few people on the boards work at some). Since they just started stocking Bridgestones only recently, I don't think they'll have the best prices. But yeah, you can always try and pricematch tirerack.

Too bad you missed the sale of $75 mail in rebate with the purchase 4 of these.

yeah, i want all seasons. i'm going to get a set of wheels for everyday use (tarmacs2 or formula mesh... haven't decided yet, 17s would be way cheaper but 18s are big boy wheels) and put track/summer tires on my torques.

18's are more unsprung weight...

...make you slower.

QFT. I just went from an 18" cast wheel with S03's to a 17" forged wheel with Falken Azenis 615's, I weighed them and I'm nearly 10lbs lighter per corner and the difference in performance is very noticable, not only in acceleration but the car also seems to turn-in quicker too.

well what tire did you have before
rt615s have stiff sidewalls so if you were on a lesser tire before, the tire construction may be more significant than the weight savings.

Bridgestone Potenza S03 Pole Position in 245/40/18. Now I run 235/40/17 Falken Azenis RT615's. Obviously having a smaller rolling diameter helps also.

I loved my S03's....until I got my 615 Azenis, but the grip is soooo much better with the Falkens. Down side is that they are wearing out really quickly.

Yeah, the grip is better because the compound is softer hence less treadwear which you're already noticing.

Also the Falkens start at 8/32nds vs. the S03s at 10/32nds. Less tread squirm........... but less tread, too. LOL.

S03s have more void area for rain dispersion as well so the Falkens naturally have a larger footprint given the same tread width.

They do have good reviews, which is why I thought it would be okay to buy them. I forgot to order the PZero Neros I usually get in the 225/50/16 that I run, so luckily my old manager from America's Tire had another well rated tire in stock, the RE960 (I still get employee pricing there = 10% over cost!). I've driven probably abount 5-6k miles on them and I'm very very disappointed in them. The PZeros that I had before definitely gripped better than these tires, not to mention they're cheaper. Turns I could normally take at 30-35 comfortably became 20-25 with these tires, and I've been forced to slam on my brakes from 20 - 0 because some idiot decides to change lanes in front of me in a parking lot and then just randomly stop. These tires lock up quickly, they squeal very early, and I can feel my car struggling to grip in normal turns for my PZeros.

It's gotten slightly better as I've burned off the preliminary rubber, and I've gotten used to the limits these tires give me. Though, if I could go back and get the PZeros I would have.

The few positives about having the RE960 vs the PZero though, is the 40k mile warranty, a slightly better ride, and overall a better "family" oriented ride with a touch of sportiness. I can't comment about any snow or rain, as I've yet to drive these in the rain and I rarely go to the snow.
