RSX overtakes on blind corner during group drive, hits R6.

woah

The road had been icy/sandy and very slick, so we were just taking it easy for once. My buddy was leading at about 30-40mph. We came around a blind right hander & found an Acura car club coming the opposite direction, with one of them trying to pass the rest. ...in our lane. There was nothing he could do. I was the next rider back & had to duck and dodge as his R6 exploded into a sea of fairings and engine parts. I made it to the shoulder of the road as the Acura thankfully slid past me, now missing its front wheel. An ambulance was called for my buddy, who we could now see down off the side of the road with his leg wrapped around a tree. Ambulances, CHP, etc showed up. They cut off his suit & found his broken leg... femur just slightly puncturing the skin. They hauled him up the hill and onto a stretcher. CHP wrote about 5 guys tickets for modified emissions, missing front license plates, excessively dark tint, etc.

People always tell you, "It's the *other* drivers I worry about. Not you". And in the back of my head I say to them, "Nah... I'd worry more about me". But this time... one of the rare occasions we were going the speed limit, this happens. Makes me totally reevaluate things. Anybody on any type of bike (or even a car) going any speed would have gotten hit. I'm gona go visit him in the hospital soon.

Life can be so f**ked sometimes.

Sorry to hear about that. Hope your friend is alright now. Makes me think twice about hopping onto my R6.

I'm tired of this "cage"/"cager" bullish. Every stupid motorcyclist who squids his stupid *** all over the road because he wasn't in a "cage" makes this whole "i hate cager" point out motorcyclists for the idiots they often (but not always) are.

"Cager" is what the more militant organ-donors call automobiles.

True, just not my kind of road I guess. I like to drive quickly and safely not quickly and constantly worry about bad pavement, potholes, blind corners, oncomming traffic, narrow lanes, 500ft drop-offs, fog, wet roads, etc.

mt hamilton is a great road and for the most part is pretty wide. Also there aren't alot of blind corners like you say there are. Almost all of the turns you can see from previous turn or turns. Passing someone on a blind turn is stupid though. Ive passed people before but that was only on open stretches or parts that i could see there is no oncoming traffic.

Damn, the guys on that RSX board can't speak English too well... I had one hell of a time reading their crap.

Anyway, sucks what happened. Mt Hamilton can be a great road, but one mistake can make it the worst road ever. You just got to know your limits... Driving that road is always a humbling experience for me. Prayers go out to the moto-guy.
