Ron Price service department
Today I went to the Ron Price VW/Subaru Service department to get four bolts for the wrx differential protector. The dude who is usually very helpful at the parts counter tells me that he can't look up that individual bolt (I had two examples with me that he could use as reference as well as full instructions from the manual) and that if I needed it, I had to buy the full rear diff. protector hardware package at $50 !!
Does this sound at all reasonable?
Parts refused to find the individual bolt for me and told me if I wanted to buy that specific bolt only, I had to find another part on the car that used the same bolt and THEN he could find it. WTF is that about? They can't match up a bolt they have in the service department to a bolt I'm holding in my hand?
Also I know for a fact that the service department has detailed diagrams of every part on the car in order to find individual parts.

I went to Home Despot and found a matching bolt though they had no "flange" type bolt that would fit properly as I found out when I got home and the bolts wouldn't hold it in place. So I've settled on holding it in place with two bolts and the stock washers (very sturdy actually!) and will give Ron Price SErvice dept a hard time when I get my cruise control recall fixed.

nope that's not the one, but thank you! i used two bolts left over from my muffler install and they were the perfect size 1.25" i believe. i had to replace the stock bolts which were too short to fit when the diff. protector was put in place.
