Still... that sucks. You've been there for days. You ever thought about going to the academy and doing the corrections thing? You'd have an in for a good slot since you already work there and know your way around. Good pay.

Hey guys and gals. Went and rode northstar yesterday again and its is amazing up there right now. The powder was unbelievable. The weather was forcasting winds up to 30+mph and when we got up there at 8, there was NOTHING but clear skies! IT was perfect riding conditions. It did start to snow a decent amount at 10-11, but that just made it that much better to ride. I went up with a few buddies who weren't that good, so I didnt go off onto too many other trails but it was still a great day.
I saw a TON of subies up there. I saw a WRB 04/05 with a HUGE fmic and DC stickers on the mirrors helping a friend put some chains on, if your on here nice subie.

hey justin...u plan on riding N* all season?? id be down to ride with ya for sure...that MtPluto section between Comstock and Rendevous Lifts is off the hook, hella tree jibs and hits everywhere.
Oh, I did, El Jefe. That I did!!!
Yeah , it was a really good day weather wise. At the end of the day, I called my friend who skied The 'Wood today, and she said it was just as good out there, too.
I'd say it was pretty close to "PERFECT" for a day on the slopes. Mostly sunny skies w/ about a foot of overnite freshies. I was also concerned w/ the forecasted gusts, but they were non-existent today.
Northstar was surprisingly not very crowded today. While they've been on my "boycott" list over the last few seasons, this visit as well as another one last spring has me thinking I may have been a li'l harsh. But we'll see as there are still some things that need to be worked out. One example occurred again this morning w/ "free" parking. They once again tried to force us to park down near the lots just off 267. I merely told them I was gonna pay the $30 VIP parking fee & continued to the free parking areas much closer to the village.
As far as riding goes, I was initially disappointed that a lot of advanced runs are still closed. But then the blood-curdling sound of rock scraping & the additional grooves on my "rocker" told me the reason. Many areas are just not safe enuff to open, and marking off each little tree stump, boulder, etc. is just not feasible. However, the areas that were open were in great shape. The park was a lotta fun for the 1st half of the day, but then the landing areas started developing huge "pockets" by late in the day.
I ended up heading up today w/ a guy who's overall riding preference is the opposite of mine (him...freestyle 80%/freeride 20%; me...freeride 80%/freestyle 20%), so it was fun to mix it up & push each other.
He actually thought this area...
was the funnest part of the mountain w/ its heaps of pow! I think it's my fave b/c the terrain off Rendezvous kinda reminds me of the sick stuff off Sierra's El Dorado chair.
All in all, another killer day! I am so glad that Winter decided to show up in full effect!

HELL ya!! It depends on what the conditions are, but its either N* or Sierra. Northstar always looks nice. I always have sat/sun/mon off, but sun/mon are best for me to head up. I will always hit this thread up the day before i go. PM me whenever you head up too.

What type of setups are you all running?
I just got all new gear earlier in the year and I absolutely love it. Got some all white Burton Hail's, K2 Cinch bindings which are AWESOME to ride in, and a new 162W Ride Decade. The board is a bit too big for me, but I do more off terain than park so the board is great when i'm in the POW.
Lets hear what you guys are shreddin with!!

Yea, I started when I was 13. When I first started I would go maybe 2-3 times a year. Then when I was 17 I got my entire setup and I rode it once before someone stole it from my house in Chico 2 weeks after I moved up there
It took me 4 years to go snowboarding after that happened. Then this last year I bought all my gear and now I'm all about it again. Now that I have a car that is cool to drive up there, it seems like I will be doing it every weekend and then some. I also just picked up my new Yakima fatcat 6 snowboard rack and my season pass, so now its on me to go.

I have a favorite spot (See my Location.), but I hit up several diff spots trying to go on discount days or looking for deals thru craigslist & other sources. I'm on winter break right now, so I'm looking to get as many days in til the 6th that I can.
