This weekend was a blast. It really wasn't even wet on Saturday, and totally dry on Sunday.

I managed to get a 2:09 laptime on street tires, which is fantastic. The car worked great, though on my one last session I had two NASTY miss-shifts. I was near the top of 4th and going to 5th and put in it 3rd instead... that was fun. Everything seems to be ok, but I'll see.

Group 3 and 4 were combined this weekend. The way things were run, it was group 4 passing rules, which mean you can pass anywhere. I got used to it real quick.

It was an exhausting weekend, but well worth it. Somone got some video shots of me which if I get the link I'll put up.

I don't know why I guessed my lap times would be 2:13ish! Evan, you are hauling a$$! Still, I should be pleased with 2:20 on a gravel suspension. At least the Porsche guys thought I was flying.
I've come to the conclusion that THill is much harder on brakes than Infineon. My pads are pretty much toast and I had tons of red dust in my rear wheels.

Anyone got pics? I should make a scan from the free contact sheet I got.

Oh my friend got some more laptimes for you on that last session. The best she recorded was a 2:18. Good stuff!

I was the one that had the full wing.

Here is a video of a couple of laps of our fourth session on the second day. I am the lead car and I have a pasenger. I can get 2:07s on my tires for sure and possibly a 2:06.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...46019416&hl=en

For engine work: Basically a Protune Stage 2, arguebly a Stage 2.5. Putting out 259hp/300tq on the Gruppe-S dyno. (Stock STis to 210-220), gruppes-s oil cooler

For tires: Falken Azinens RT-615s w/ 10 previous track days on them

For Alignment: -2 deg front camber, 5deg caster both sides, -1.5deg rear camber, 0 toe all around, car has been corner balanced

For Brakes: RacingBrake 2 piece rotors front and rear, Hawk Blue Racing brake pads, stainless steel lines, Motol 600 brake fluid

For suspension: Whiteline 27mm-29mm front sway bar (on 27mm), Whiteline 22-23-24mm rear sway bar (on 23mm), Whiteline Sport ALK, Whiteline Spherical endlinks front and rear, Whiteline G4 coilovers 5k front 4k rear (set to full stiff front and rear), RCE camber plates, rear group N hats (worst idea ever, should have bought rear plates), camber bolts for front and rear, and a cusco ladder brace

And I think thats it.

Nice video. Pretty good time for street tires and that power.

If you cut 14 a little closer ala wrc, enter 2 a little wider and nail 10 you can shave off some more.

Thats great, really, especially if it is also on street tires. What lap time can you do? What kind of car/what have youd done? I am currious as to what tires you are using, as I may want to try to stay with street tires to save some money, if that is what you are using? Also what are you using for brake pads? The Hawk Blues I am using work extremely well but I was starting to pass their heat range, and I am going to need something better.

As you can see in the video there is lots of room left on the table to go faster. Most of the mid-speed turns there is a little room left, and in the high speeds turns/approaches there is a huge amount of time to be gained. Since this is only my first season I still have lots of learning to do. Also during this session I had a passenger with me in the car, so that added another 200lbs to the STis already heavy 3400lbs.

Most of the stuff I have done to my car is to get it to feel the way I would like it to. For the most part the G4 coilovers are so soft I would have been better off with Pinks as a value/, but I wanted the ability to get cornerbalanced. After the 25hrs race I will talk with the Locks about getting a roll bar put into my car as these speeds are starting to make that a necessity, and that will give me a little more confidence to go faster.

In the back of my mind I keep thinking about putting together an Honda Challenge H4 class car as it would only cost 5-8k to build, run 2:04 sec laps and be a hell of a lot cheaper for parts.

I do have to agree with that.

Personally I would rather share what I learn with others and learn from them rather than saying "I'm better than you".

If you can "smoke" my times with a full weight street car on street tires I sure as hell want to know what you are doing differently, as that information would be invaluable to myself and others as well.

My times are in line with a NASA TTA/TTU car, though at the rear of the pack. While my times are at the bottom end of those cars I am almost positive a 2:06x is possible with the Falkens with me driving, and that time would put me in the middle of those groups. Once race tires go on that should help my times progress to near the top of those groups.

And FYI: The Locks Legacy GT runs about a 1:58 and their WRX runs about a 2:00 and those are lightned, fully preped race cars.

FYI. Once you get down to 2:05 or so over the top (or approx 2:03-2:02 with bypass) it's a HUGE jump to 2:00.

I've been knocking on 2:04 over the top for about 3 track events. Soon it will be mine....

Daredevil, post your times, it's required now.
