Angry Road rage sucks...Novato Police suck.....

This is kinda a long story,

Last night I took a drive out to Point Reyes to try out my new Willwood Brakes. I came back to Novato by the Cheese factory on Novato blvd. I came up on a white Cadillac tailgating a Toyota pickup. There is only one passing section on that road, and its right before you get into Novato. There are 5 or more pull outs along the way. Before each pull out there is a sign that reads "Slow vehicles use Pullouts". 100ft after that sign, there reads a sign that says: "pullout 100ft"
100ft go by and there is the pullout with a sign saying "pullout"

The driver of the Toyota ignores the signs and proceeds at a very slow pace. The driver of the Cadillac flashes his high beams at the 3rd pullout with no luck. At this point, I made sure to get some distance from both of them( good thing too) The pickup driver slams on his brakes and the Cadillac locks up one tire. The road is too windy to pass safely. After 5+ pullouts, I decide to pass in the one passing section (Dogbone Meadow Park). Going about 60mph with plenty of time to pass, the Toyota swerves infront of me going 35mph to block me as my front bumper reaches the middle of his truck. I slammed on my brakes (good thing I put on stronger brakes...)as I almost go off into a ditch. I fell behind both cars and followed into town.

At the first stop sign, I pull up next to the pickup. I was calm and I tried to talk to the man. He started cussing and was more raged than any person I have ever seen before. I again tried to talk to him with a calm voice. He began to cuss again and told me he was going to Kill me...
From there, I got his plates as he sped away.

Today my buddy called a friend and ran the plates for me. I found out who the guy was. I went to the novato police to file a report and guess who was treated like a criminal. All the officer cared about was how I got the info on the man. It was illegal for me to aquire that info, and illegal for someone to give it to me.
He also said that in the future, I should not have passed. I figured that one out on my own, but he felt the need to remind me three times.
He said, that I had to fear for my life for the death threat to be valid.
The pickup driver was pissed at the Cadillac driver and I almost got run off the road and my life threatened.
The officer was a *****, he ran the plates and told me he was going to do nothing about it. Too much paperwork for him I guess.

The funniest thing about the whole thing,
I didn't get angry at the driver last night, but I was down right pissed at the cop today.

That's not bad story telling there. And yes Novato cops do suck big time. They're almost as bad as Fairfax cops.
Dude let me know your plate connection. Thats totally cool

I have become aquainted with almost all of the Fairfax cops in the last year. It really pays off. I'm even friend with one.
He tried to play chicken with me one day in his squad car on center blvd. He lost and almost crapped his pants. My wagon can apparently cut harder than his cruiser. The one cop I didn't know a month ago wrote me a ticket for running a stop sign on my bicycle. $91.......
What plate connection

I've got nothing but bad stories with the fairfax cops. One almost pulled his gun on me once. Another lied to me right before he read me my rights for something that wasn't my fault. A third said he would take my licence away from me after i went throw an intersection on a yellow light. The list goes on.

$91 for going through a stop sign on a bike. What BS. I ride from Woodacre through Fairfax and up Tam all the time running every and all stop signs but never had that happen to me.

Yep. Welcome to being a younger driver in a sporty car. Same thing happened to me with CHP and my accident. When I told the cop how the accident occured, and where, he said I was lying, and he knew it because he saw the broken glass on the road way. He then insinuated I was trying to pass illegally.

So I asked him to point out the source of the broken glass on my car or the other vehicle (which was a semi trailer). UH OH! No broken glass.

1. getting license info like that is illegal. trust me, i know... BTDT.

2. IIRC, if more that 7 cars are behind you, you must pull over to let them pass, per DMV laws when i last took the friggin test decades ago.

so the dude was still LEGAl in doing what he did. the road rage though, while still idiotic, did not break any laws...

when you tried to pass, what was the legal speed limit? cause you may have gotten a ticket for speeding if caught.

yeah i know it sucks. people suck. just wish that truck driver bad karma...

I would have taken down the police officers badge number (politely) then ask to speak with his supervisor.

letting the cop know you ran the plate was not the most brilliant idea, I would have just given him the plate number plus some story about how he tried to run you off the road in legal passing zone... I have done that to some drunk raiders fans before who quite literally tried to run me off into an embankment on 17 near glennwood cutoff.

-Yeah, I know its illegal.
-Out there, you must pull over if there is one car behind you. The signs state that "slower vehicle use pullout". Infraction #one. The law is 5 cars now and that area as well as other roads on the coast have special posted passing laws.
-His road rage, trying to force me off the road was considered reckless driving and endangerment. Very Illegal. #2
-His threat, #3
-And lastly, he was doing 35mph. The speed limit out there is 55mph. My pass at 60mph was hardly breaking the law.
-I don't have to wish for anyting, Karma pays back 3 fold on its own....
-oh yeah, cops suck......Novato cops.....

I did tell the cop that I feared for my life when he tried to run me off the road.

I will be in his area soon for a track event next month. Thought I might leave him a note on his truck or mailbox.
Tell him my side of the story, and let him know that it is dangerous to threaten and endanger someones life when they might know where you live. Maybe that will teach him to think twice about road rage in the future, and how his anger for one person can hurt an innocent bystandered.(sp?)who knows......
