Road Biker Douche Nozzles!!!

Arrrrg, share the road my ***! The road was made for cars!

Its not really all bikers... Just road bikers. Some of them are cool and stay WAAAAAY to the side, but a lot of the time they think the road belongs to them and don't move on purpose even though they have more room than I do in my lane!

How many of you remember this back in like 01?

The worst thing ever happened to me and a bunch of Subaru folks one time during a meet at the James Lick observator... It's a 21 mile winding (and I maen WINDING!) road that goes from 15 feet elevation to around 5,000 feet all in the matter of about 30-35 mins. ANYWAY, there is about 30 of us coming down after a cool meet at the observatory, we're cruisng down at a reasonable speed when all the sudden traffic just slows to a halt... then we're going like 1-2mph. I was several car lengths behind the first car so I didn't know what was going on... Turns out that some DOUCHEBAG of a road cyclist bolted on a 1/4" diameter pipe that was about 3 feet long onto his bike "Neck" so that if a car got too close to him, the pipe would scrape the car. This is TOTALLY illegal, and not to mention the fact that he was hogging the road and wasn't NEARLY to the side of the road like he should have been. Keep in mind this is a two way road that is one lane each way with a double yellow in the middle so you can't go into the other lane to give him room.

I see an Impreza parked off to the side just ahead of the biker (he already passed the biker)... I had no idea about the pipe on this guys bike until I drove right past him and he almost scraped me with it... He managed to scratch two of our cars in our caravan!!! The two cars that were scraped pulled over and wanted to kill this guy... I saw it happen and I pulled over too. By this time there are like 8 or 9 subies pulled over surrounding him... Keep in mind that he's riding solo and there is ZERO cell phone reception up there... You basically need to drive about 20more mins to get any signal.

We're stopped and out of our cars... The guy tries to pass us but he's going very slow because it's uphill. We manage to stop him, the guys who were the victims had already examined their cars and confronted this douche... He denied it and said that we shouldn't be driving on this road because there are too many cyclists I wanted to punch his pompus *** in the face sooo badly. It's a ROAD for CARS not BIKES!!! He kept arguing with us about it until finally one of the guys grabs his bike while he's destracted by us... I don't remember why he got off of his bike, probably to defend himself in case we attacked him... The other subie owners ripped that pipe off and flattened his tires (with a screw driver), and from what I remember, they threw it several feet into the road which I'm sure scratched it. We all exchanged words (profanities) and went about our way leaving him there by himself without a spare tire (he only had one spare tube, HA-HA!) I don't know what happened to him, but I hope he's dead on side of a mountain.

Ever since then I have had very little respect with cyclists. I'm a cyclist myslef, only I ride mountain bikes and if I need to ride on the road, I'm in the BIKE lane or if there isn't a bike lane and the road is narrow, I go onto the sidewalk and yeild to peds.

HAHAHA I hate bicyclists that act like that too. +1 to your friends that jacked up his bike. I would have done the same and maybe a little more damage to the bike if not tossing it off the road as long as no one would be under the bike falling

Wow, I've never seen the pipe sticking out thing.. that's just stupid. There's a guy I work with who is a road biker who's a bit like this guy. Thinks he has as much right to the road as any car. I say no, you see that painted white line? You get the right side of it. He says.. waaaaaa.. I'll get a flat tire. I say well.. get some better tubes.

Then there are the road biker packs who apparently never learned to ride in a single file line and like to ride 4 or 5 wide like they're in the peleton of the Tour de France, then seem to get pissed when you finally have a chance to go around them, you do it as quickly and loudly as possible.

I ride BMX with my son, so I've got no problem with bicycles.. but yeah some road bikers.

Yeah, so what? Something wrong with venting on a public forum?

I know how you feel Daniel! On my road there are always cyclists riding two or three people wide with plenty of blind corners and they don't move over, you have to try to pass them "not hard for me to do, but when theres an SUV ahead of me its different. One time there were two next to each other and then a car space ahead of them was a single rider...I slipped nicely into that space with at ~4k RPM. They don't usually yell at me because I'm gone in a matter of a few seconds but they always yell at my girlfriend in her civic....how dare a car go around a blind corner on an automotive road faster than 2 mph! It pisses me off every time I see them.

One time I was walking my dog on my road (when I hear a car I stop and make him stay right at my feet so the car can pass without worry) but I saw three bikers with an RV and a minivan stuck behind them. They said hi to me and I said "why don't you let these people pass?" and in a really sarcastic tone one of the asses went "oh youre a real nice guy, thanks for that tip." I kept walking and one of them stopped in a driveway to fix his shoe or something and it took him about 30 seconds to grow the ***** to say "well why don't YOU get off the road" and I turned around (keep in mind I had been alking at a good pavce the whole 30 seconds) and yelled down the road "I stop when I hear a car coming you ****ing ***got" and then he left

I don't get why people ride like this. I ride road and mountain and never had a problem. The law says cyclists are allowed to ride in the road (it is illegal to ride on sidewalks unless specifically permitted), however just as with any vehicle they are supposed to ride to the right in order to allow faster vehicles to pass. In fact it says they should ride as to the right as is safely possible.

To get around flats I bought lightweight kevlar casing tires (Specialized Armadillo Elites). I ride over glass, thorns, etc and no flats. Don't hate all roadies - I know there are a lot of them that are stupid *******s that block traffic and don't seem to care, but we're not all like that.
