I would like to offer my condolences as well. It's obvious, from the pictures and the story, that the cat was very much apart of your family...and it is very touching. I have been where you are right now, and it still hurts...but never question that the choice you made was the right one.
As others have said, she is in a better place now. I know the pain of it all is almost too much to bear for you and your wife, but China is pain free now.
You had your time, and you made it count...be happy for that, and smile when you think of her.
I'm going to go hug my cat now

with allergies towards cats, i've always just taken a allergy pills to hang out with my neighbors cat, and they're very full of character, and China sounds like a good cat, but with all of her suffering, you've done what was best for her.
it looks like you've treated her well, and even better in her times of sickness, it's easy to see that you're a good pet care giver, and you made the best with China. may she rest in peace.

Thanks BAIC, you guys have all been really supportive! Thought today has been rough, really sad, we feel confident with the decision as hard as it was!
Here's a quote and some pics from my wife's facebook page:
"My sweet, precious love, my guardian angel, my constant little companion for almost a decade, was laid to rest today after battling cancer. My heart is utterly broken for the loss, but I am glad she is suffering no more.
China, I will always remember you, whether sitting in the light of the window sill watching the birds, or curled up on my lap, one of yours and my favorite places to be. You are forever irreplaceable...at least in this life...I hope to see you in the next."

streeeeeetch!

this one was one of their rituals, sleeping with mama!

Thank you for sharing this with everyone here. the pictures are breathtaking, and they tell the story better than words could. I hope, maybe it will make us all take a look at just how precious our little friends are to us. Some of us seem to find that symbiotic harmony with our pets...myself included. They contribute so much to our lives, and we to theirs...I can't imagine my life with out my little guy.

Great photo camshaft!
Thanks guys.
I'm dealing with something similar right now, as my parents' German Shephard mix named Sarah, had a stroke a couple weeks ago, and just had a mild seizure two days ago. Even though I am married, and have been out of my parents' house for some 7 years or so, I still spent about 7 of my formative teenage years with her before moving out, and she is very much like a part of my family although not living with me. I know she does not have much longer, and it breaks my heart thinking about it. I am very sorry for your loss, and I can understand the feeling.
I know it must be hard to lose a pet. Thats one thing that I hate about being an animal lover is that its so hard to deal with when its their time. keep your head up man, shes in a better place
awesome pics BTW
